what are people's opinions of the M3 Pro then? Is it worth getting or just not worth the money compared with the M2 Pro which had more performance cores or perhaps the M2 Max or M3 Max

Maxtech are usually blowing smoke up apples a*** so it’s quite refreshing to see them calling apple out on the “pro” 8gb model.
I’ve been doing some bits and bobs on my m3 max that were using around 27gb of ram and 8gb of vram on the PC and on the m3 max it was using 31gb total. That’s close enough to 1:1 as far as I’m concerned.

I'm tentatively in the market for a Studio with M2 Max / 64GB. Kinda captured by Apples upgrade ladder as all I initially wanted was an M2 Pro Mini with 32GB. But by the time you upgrade the mini the price is very close to the significantly better Studio... Then you realise the 64GB Studio upgrade isn't outrageously priced.
Anyway, can only assume the M3 Max will come to Studio at some point.
Questions - will the price basically stay the same, but just swap M2 Max for M3 Max?

Price will likely stay around the same, there's a decent chance for a March release I'd guess.

As @HACO mentioned, going off recent device releases, the price will probably be similar. As for release, it's rumoured for mid-year, or mostly likely WWDC in June, and i would be surprised if it's before that but who knows.
Unless you desperately need a new system now then i would wait rather than grabbing an M2 Studio.

We won't see Thunderbolt 5 until the M4 at the earliest as it's not part of the M3 spec. An M3 Ultra is about the only addition to the line-up we're likely to see this year.
