Upgradeing from a X1800XTPE ??? what card should i buy ?

I would have stuck with the X1800XT tbh. You should notice a small difference with the card you have chose. Personally I wouldn't have bothered but meh.

Hope it works fine for you.

Holly post a thread, have everybody disagree with you, then buy it anyway then ask people what they have already answered batman.

Should have saved that 400 and spend it on a r600, nv80 card in 6 months time.

Im upgrading from a geforce fx5900 to an 1800 to tide me over till the new cards come out. = the sensible option.

Agreed its an absolute waste, but his money, up to him. :p

omg OWNED what a n00b in 3dmark03 i get 18,300 points with my x1800xt and 18,900 with my x1900xt you just went and completely wasted good money after everyone telling you not to

not only did you spend the extra money getting the HIS version with the special cooler you went an bought the zalman vf900 cooler please sum1 stop me from rolling about on the floor with laughter

please answer this question why buy the HIS version if you were gonna get the vf900?

OMG look at the receipt £400 for that you could have got a conroe chip and mobo and some ram, and saw a much bigger overall performance boost

I am really sorry to say this, as nobody wants to hear it ever, but you have just flushed £400 and you will see extremely little if any improvement over what you have now in a resolution of 1280x960. You really should've spent the money on something else instead, like a 24" LCD or something. :( And as LoadsaMoney said, there was really no point in buying the ICE-Q when you're buying a Zalman anyway (unless that's for another PC) as you can get a standard X1900XT for £260 now.

I only payed £150 for that 1900XTX...
i sold my X1800XTPE, i dont think thats a bad price to pay for the best X1900XTX is it.

the vga cooler i got becuse im unsure what the cooling is like on these cards
i was told there loud and in a few reviews they say there loud.
so i got the VGA cooler as a backup plan.
i also plan on upgradeing my system with conroe and ddr2 and dx10 card with vista next year march time. so this card just has to tie me over untill then £150 isnt a lot for this card.

Yeah, but if he read the responses in this thread he'd already know that. He was hell-bent on buying an XTX so that's what he did. Meh, it's his money.

I don't understand why people say this. Just because you already spend most of the money on another card, which you now don't have, doesn't suddenly mean that money was never spent. You'll be spending it a second time on the X1900.

Yeah, it's a swap, but it's still a bad one that's putting you a whole £150 in the hole which could easily buy you a 19" WXGA LCD or something else that might make a much bigger difference for the money. Ah well, as said, I just really think you should reconsider while there's time.

I just think it's a shame to see money be wasted though, and as far as I know this thread was to ask people what he should buy, and he ignored most of the advice so there wasn't really any point in asking.

£150 isnt a lot for this card.

if you were unsure about cooling why buy the HIS version then? when it specifically says silent in their name

You spent £400 how much did you get for your X1800XT i dont think you got £250 for it

sooooooo lets seee even if you did sell it for 250, £150 for a 600 point gain in 3dmarko3 and a 10% gain in games OMG that was sooooooooo not a total waste of money, ever heard of a brothel trust me £150 would have got you much better performance there

£150 is still way to much, that minute increase in performance is nowhere near worth £150, to put it in perspective and x1800 XT is only £160 (£10 more), now is that very small smidgen extra anywhere near another x1800 XT's performance, is it rollocks. :D

Since your max resolution is 1280x1024 there is utterly zero point in upgrading that X1800XTPE really. It's overkill as it is for that res.

Indeed

You really have wasted your money there and then to go and get another cooler

i ordered the stuff at 4:04pm so i hope i will get em tommorow as im 4 mins over deadline lol

well now... that was a total waste of money.

youve got 4/5 months untill the DX10 cards are here, at which point every high end DX9 cards resale value will plumet. Factor in the fact that you will see no noticable difference in your gaming due to the resolutions your restricted to and the fact that game you mentioned in your reasoning for upgrading wont run properly on a DX9 card and im just left utterly confused, this is the worst time to buy a new High End card unless your upgrading from a much lower card which your previous one was not.

a daft choice in my opinion, but that said, its your money and i hope you enjoy it ;) .
