Upgrading to 20"

The relevance is that I'm curious if you are conforming to the stereotype.
The stereo type that all young Indians have shiny wheels? What about young black kids or young white heads with blingy tat all over their car? Are they really brown at heart? I don't see how race is really relevant.

Yes, that stereotype, but Asians are best known for doing it on big German cars.

Those wheels look awesome, buy them. Fox had a Mondeo with the most horrific wheels ever sold on, if there is one person you want to ignore when it comes to wheel advice it's fox :p.

The wheels you first posted are awesome and will make your car look more awesome, if you like them then don't let the "oem is best" crew talk you out of it. As you said yourself, they aren't crappy replicas but are forged performance wheels. Enough people put aftermarket alloys on cars from other marques, so I don't see what's so special and holy about the M5 that you can't do the same.

I had a Mondeo with its factory fitted wheels on! I didnt buy them :p

Get the wheels already!
You will also need this exhaust:

or possibly this one:

You're only young once :)
I would love the Eisenmann Race or ASR Gen II, but I've been told that only getting an ACS will keep my warranty :( Does anyone have any input on this actually? It would be good to know how a UK BMW Used Approved Warranty will be affected.

NVP is just waiting to accuse someone of being racist. I can feel it.

Couldn't be more wrong, the whole reason I didn't want to reply was because I knew where this thread would end up. I'm not some self pitying idiot who thinks the whole world is against him and starts **** at any opportunity, I'm as normal and as "racist" as the next guy and have my fun, which I know sounds hypocritical considering my earlier post but I didn't see the point in bringing it into this thread as it had no relevance to the discussion.

Please can we just keep this on topic and not let things get inappropriate for the discussion at hand.

That's pretty much my thoughts, I mean how do these not look completely awesome:

They look like a bad attempt to copy 19" CSL's. The fact they are so similar just makes them look like not particularly faithful replicas.

I dont think ACS retains warranty any more as BMW UK dropped ACS?

Concave CSL's at least ;) I do see what you mean though.

How long ago did they drop ACS? It is what the BMW guy told me when I picked this up back in June. I might ask on the M5Board to see if they've had any warranty issues, trouble is they're mainly American.

NVP you defiantly looked like you were trying to get a reaction. Anyway, back on topic.

Those wheels on the M5 do look good
I only said a couple of things, I wasn't trying to provoke anything at all just merely get my point across. Sorry if it seemed different.

Cheers, they do look some sort of special. I'm very, very tempted :)

The only thing I hmm about on that M5 posted above is the oval exhaust tips, it's too similar to an AMG!

Yes, that stereotype, but Asians are best known for doing it on big German cars.

Various family members and relatives have big German cars and not a single one fits that so called stereotype.

Let's not start anything please. :)

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm not too sure what exhaust/tips are on it but it doesn't quite suit. I'm in two minds of the Brembos as well, a tad unnecessary I think.

The Brembo callipers look great IMO, suits the wheels nicely, it helps that they're absolutely massive and fill the massive gaps in the alloy - which looks nice.

Just the exhaust I don't like on that car :p

Hmm yeah I know what you mean, but the stock brakes and discs aren't exactly small and look nice yet are quite discrete. I do see the appeal though, as I said I'm split on the look.

I imagine the gap between stock brakes and those wheels would be larger though, I guess the owner saw this and decided to get gap filling upgrades :p

You do understand how fitting a stereotype works, right?

Americans are stereotypically fat. The presence of a or even many thin Americans does not render the stereotype non-existant. An American who is fat, is a stereotypically fat American.

A young Asian who buys a big German car and then starts attaching bits of dubious taste to it, is a stereotypical young Asian.

A gay who buys a gold car, is a stereotypical gay.

I've not seen any wheels so far that really suit the M5.
