UPS - Useless!

How much does DPD usually charge for £100-£200 insured items in delivery? I know Royal Mail are very expensive

Couriers charge by weight and volume, not by value. Liability or insurance cover would be added to this dependent on value. Plus it would depend which tarriff the sender was on.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your package. I have reviewed the tracking history of your package. I see that your package is still in transit, on time to your location hub. The package has not arrived in your area yet. It is scheduled for delivery tomorrow for the first attempt. Your package just left our hub in Dundee at 6:05 PM local time.

Sincerely,

So there you have it, they knew full well it wasn't going to arrive today, it hadn't even left the depot yet. It was picked up YESTERDAY!

So not only did they lie stating it was going to be for delivery today via the service, they also lied to me on the phone promising it will be by the end of the day. Checking the current item location would've saved a lot of hassle

Everyone should use dpd. Online tracking with estimated time slots and choice of safe place etc. Just whish every shop offered dod I wouldn't care if it's a bit mire expensive.

This. Only used them a couple of times but they're really great. They came before twelve and had a very accurate online tracker.

I deff prefer DPD for short delivery windows and tracking - I live close to work so I can pop home and only lose about 30 minutes then just come back.

However, couriers vary a lot and it often depends where you live - UPS are great for me.
I've ordered 2 things in the last month from USA - both shipped via UPS and both arrived at my house the day after ordering.
Both of these beat Amazon Prime expedited shipping via Royal Mail from the UK - no surprise then that I didn't renew after the free trial period

In fact, since I've moved all couriers have been spot on (yes, even Yodel...) except Royal Mail!! They are the worst by a huge margin for me now.

Move 15 minutes away and it can change a lot for some weird reason...

You do realise that a courier service is never 100% guaranteed, there are many factors which could result in the driver being unable to elivery on the specified day.
What if he gets stuck in very heavy traffic, due to a bad acicdent and he runs out of legally allowed driving time per day? Thats not his fault, that is just bad luck from external conditions.

You cannot honestly blame your friend being upset on a courier delivery, if it arrived your friend would have still been in the same situation Neil.

DPD text you letting you know within an hour when they will arrive.

They can still miss that slot. They aren't impervious to traffic, accidents, breakdowns, delays, misroutes and all the other things that can go wrong when couriering something.

Somebody was telling me yesterday that the Rainforest have struck a deal with Royal Mail so that the recipient of a package can nominate a local post office for delivery and can go and collect it from there at their leisure.

Delivery was due today between 9-7pm, waited till 5pm, phoned them up and they said it will be here by end of day. Looked again at 7pm on their tracking screen, now due tomorrow by end of day. Wasted an entire day of doing nothing and tomorrow looks to be the same. Tomorrow I've got things to do and someone else will have to stay behind and keep a look out

All they could say is " Oh it's just a day delay "

Rage

Was this an important thing being delivered?

You don't have to answer that question, of course it wasn't.

Good job they don't delivery post ;) :p

I had to go and collect something from the DPD depot last night. My only issue was that I received the delivery email too late for me to arrange with a neighbour for them to take it (I didn't want them to leave it anywhere or rearrange delivery). I'm all for fast service but give me a chance! :p

Resurrecting thread having just had this nightmare myself. Two separate packages with UPS, coincidentally due to arrive the same day.

I checked at 7:30 and one was on the van, the other hadn't moved from its airport, so i rang them this morning. It was scheduled end of today, right up until 4:30 where it revised to tomorrow. I spotted their mistake and they did **** all about it. Its still there now, 24 hours in the same spot. Tom Hanks would be proud.

The other is apparently still due today. Not holding my breath.

U

Wow your life is so dramatic. Stuff happens, and your mum will have more outbursts, because as you said, she has a personality disorder.

Deliveries don't always come on time, oh noes!

Liars, cheats and thieves, **** the lot of them. Do your job and do your job well. Delivery companies have zero accountability for **** service.

I was expecting a Yodel delivery today but their tracker says it has only just left Enfield and arrived at Hatfield terminal today which is still 100s of miles away. Then their website has a notice about high volume of deliveries at the moment. I thought couriers take on temps at Christmas, obviously not Yodel.

It still suggests that's what you're saying.

Also, wat? No I don't work for any delivery companies. I'm just not ignorant or blind enough to think that they're all like that or to have a Neil79 meltdown because my day hasn't went the way I wanted it to go.
