Useful Freeware Utilities

Just found this on, well where else, but Lifehacker! :p

I for one have to do a fair bit of video editing at my work and I think I'm getting a bit fed up with Windows Movie Maker. We can't really afford anything more professional, being a school, so I either buy the Adobe Premiere Elements for myself or I give something like this a try. :)

Hi Marc...certainly give this a go, no point spending money when freeware will do, would be interested to hear feedback on your use of it...

Hi. Can I suggesterate this for the video codec zone? http://www.cccp-project.net/

Combined Community Codec Pack. I don't actually use this, I have VLC. But if I did need a codec pack I'd use this.

I would like also to suggest for CCCP this is what I use also very useful for watching movies and for some movie addicts out their. Also I want to add this in video section a coverter Total Video Converter that can play different file format video and can also convert.

CCCP is already in the Video/Audeo Codecs section and Total Video Converter is not freeware...

Two very useful recent finds:

WinSplit Revolution:

"What is it for? WinSplit Revolution is a small utility which allows you to easily organize your open windows by tiling, resizing and positioning them to make the best use of your desktop real estate."

I'm finding this so useful i can't believe i've gone this long without it. Hotkey combo sends any window straight to the size and position on the screen where i want it.

Bulk Rename Utility:

"Bulk Rename Utility allows you to easily rename files and entire folders based upon extremely flexible criteria."

Does what it says on the tin really. Steep learning curve but everything you need to get the job done!

Thanks...

WinSplit Revolution added, Bulk Rename Utility is already in the list...
