Using competitor products in the office

We're strongly encouraged to use our own services so we know the product etc. but plenty of people use competitor stuff all the time.

It makes huge sense to allow people to use the other phones anyway
Its a good way for them to see what the competition is up to surely

We make Lucozade, and can buy it cheap. One of my colleagues posted a photo to the work social network the other day with a can of Red Bull on their desk .
Personally, I much prefer our stuff and the fact that it's cheap is double win.
YOU'RE MY COMPETITOR!
Well.... Kinda..... :p Cherry lucozade is rank.

:p

Some of the flavours I'm not a fan of, but now I can get it cheap I drink soo much of the Lucozade Revive Lemongrass & Ginger stuff :D.

:( :p

Nothing, I'm from Farnborough. Too many people on here who are from Farnborough :p

I've never seen another person from Farnborough on this forum since I've joined... Now I've seen 2 in the space of one thread :o

Do any of you people meet up? Or is a strictly forum only affair?

Back on topic... To be fair, the team she works in does nick her phone a lot to view competitor applications and how they function in comparison to WP apps. So it does have a use outside of her just owning it for the lols.

If it's a work phone then they should use whatever the company provides and they would be crazy to provide a competitors product.

If it's a personal phone then use whatever you want, so long as it's not used for or effects their work, especially if they are customer facing.

Do you get the option of getting a 920 free?

Because if you think of it from a low/mid/high range phone, technically you're getting low/mid range phones for free and she's just gone off and bought a high end one. If you were getting 920s for free then that's a different matter, and i'd say she's freaking nuts because the 920 is a damn nice phone!

I expect it all depends on what you like /are used to - maybe she likes the IOS phones? I personally would buy an Android every time. And Windows 8 hasnt caught on yet that those not very techie would swap ecosystem for another unless they felt comfortable doing so

We have a similar issue with people buying from a competitor online retailer. I'm not sure what to think. If employees would rather use competitor products/services maybe the managemt should take their sentiment onboard. Employees are customers after all.

they should probably ask for anonymous feedback why - but maybe people dont want to carry around a rather large brick on them
