UT3 PS3 keyboard/mouse confirmed

Im going to laugh if it has PS3 vs PC online, force every ps3 player to buy a keyboard and mouse just to play the game. Only way i can see them doing it is either having SEVERE auto aim (which makes the game boring) or affecting pc gamers mouse movements somehow (which they definitely won't do if they want to be taken seriously)

If people want to play M/Kb fine. Just please god don't let them play on the same servers as people who just want to play with the joypad.

Else it's a ridicolous descision imo. There will be a very small hardcore minority that will play this way and completely dominate the casual joypad player. It will become mandatory for anyone that wants to play in any kind of clan to buy a keyboard and mouse.

Sony are confusing. What market are they going for? The scrunched up over the desk crowd or the sitting on sofa console crowd?

It's also typically immature of the ocuk ps3 crowd to say "wah, wah, you 360 suckers are just jealous" to any kind of debate over the subject.

Ocuk ps3 crowd, please keep your generalisations to yourself. If you read the statements put out by epic ( you can read, can't you? although your post says other ) the different control schemes will be segregated, no joypad versus kb/m players. a lot brighter minds than your own are being paid vast sums to make this game, they have thought of this.

Are MS confused when releasing a joypad for pc users, offering 360 versus pc play ( Shadowrun, kb/m versus joypad players ). Please keep your one sided comments and immaturity for somewhere else, and this is epics call not sony but will a 360 owner bad mouth epic?

If the different control schemes are segregated and there's clear distinction I can't see the harm in it though I'm not sure how the system will handle rank play (will it have rank play?).

My worry is this won't happen or a hardcore minority will find a way round it to gain dominance, this would cause imbalance and end up with a lot of casual players feeling resentment. Ultimately though we need to wait and see. If they (Sony/Epic) can control who plays who then as I said, there isn't going to be an issue.

Already getting this on the PC (even though my GPU is on the fritz) and will no doubt buy it on the Xbox360 too.

Why get i on the different platforms?
to play with mates who won buy it for the PC?

I would agree certainly that the 360 controller is the ULTIMATE control pad, it, for me at least, only has 1 flaw. It's D-Pad, thankfully its sticks are so good I don't mind as the d-pad is usually relegated to inventory selection.
I would say the opposite of the PS3 pad which has a phenomenal D-Pad, but terrible sticks, as a result I want to use the d-pad for controls and sticks for other stuff, unfortunately this isn't possible.

I dunno, I would say that was deffo opinion based, i much much much prefer the analogue sticks on the ps3 to the dpad!

well i'll get it on pc as thats released first and it'll no doubt be the ultimate version (anyone who thinks otherwise is sadly deluded) then i'll get it on 360 later as most of my mates will play it on that.

Cheers, was just curious :)

Has there been any game in the past, at all, where there was an option to play with mixed controls or mixed platforms?

Even if it is unranked play, has there ever been a game with widespread cross platform use online?

Quake 3 - Dreamcast and PC users played against each other. It was quite widespread for about half a year or so.
How was the matching? I really don't see the point of arguing over which is the better controller or any bias towards any one system.

I say they should just roll it out and include the option for cross platforming as an optional idea - when all those console people get pwned we'll have proven the theory once and for all and we can give up on trying to get them some new opponents :p

OR maybe the console guys can hold their own, in which case we can see more companies allowing cross-platform play :D

Not in the past. Shadowrun allows PC vs 360.

I have said that despite having a good PC, I'm opting to go for console versions of games such as Bioshock, Call of Duty 4 and Unreal Tournament 3. I prefer the joypads over m/kb combo.

I prefer a pad too, but because I find they grant a greater level of imersion. There is no way that a skilled pad user can be as quick and accurate as a skilled mouse user, though, not even close. For this reason i'll always choose a m&k for twitch shoters - UT3, Q3 etc - but a pad for everything else, especially single player, immersion heavy/stealth games.

Hmmm I'd personally wait and see before stating that it'll be the ultimate edition, becuase there's certainly no indication at present that it will anything but the gimped version,

No M/KB support
No cross play
No mods

On top of those how many players will the servers hold due to P2P (if that's the right terminology)?

Doesn't sound to ultimate to me, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see.. We should know more when Epic make an announcement next year.

He actually said the PC version would be the ultimate one.

Although you have listed the main flaws with the 360 version (no mods and p2p). So far I have not played a single 360 game that you can host more than say 12 players online with a full 8mb ADSL MAX line. And most people in the country have slower connections than that.
