The only questions now remain who and why? They didn't get inside though.

The circular saw overcuts and the rivetted sheet metal are a shame

Would be amazing if it was more exotic (e.g. solid tungsten) with no obvious signs of installation.

Still, whoever thought of it must be having a great time watching the coverage.

Yes, a solid block of metal would have been far better.

Now there will be two schools, those that want to open it and those who want to preserve it. Unless someone comes forward as responsible for it, the former school will likely win out.

Would something like this be hard to get open?
 
Any welders here? Would it have been possible to weld the joints from the inside to provide a seamless exterior?

I'm personally torn between being in awe of the monolith and his beard.

Ignore the ridiculous still there, real aliens don't look like that.
