Well, the big day is upon us. I say 'us', but really it's just me who's about to suffer in the name of a better body, science and women!

So, for the next 28 days, if I can hack it, my diet will consist of protein shakes, milled flax seed, EFA's, and, well that's it. I *do* have two different flavouring types (BSL Labs from MP); oh the variety!

Day One

So, this morning I rise at the regular time of 6:20 am, ready for my first shake of the program. 1 scoop whey, 1 scoop MPC, 1 tablespoon flax, 3 EFA caps and some strawberry flavouring. Yummy. Or so I thought...

...It's horrid. Truely. I don't know whether it was too much flax, not enough flavouring, or I just wasn't in the mood, but finishing it was a struggle. Though, finish it I did. After finishing I made up my meals for the day which consisted of 1 shake without the flax, and two with. You can keep your steak and potato's, I don't need them. Honest.

Since then I have had 1 without flax, and am just finishing my second with the flax. This one was better, much better. Not nice, but an improvement.

Training tonight; chest, shoulders and tri's.

If anyone is interested I will update this with pictures/comments/progress reports regularly. If not then I will just use this for spilling my thoughts about the diet when I need to.

So far; so good.

[edit] For a pic, as requested, you perverts. I can't be bothered (read; am unable) to get a better shot than that so you will have to assume my BICEPTZ can destroy worlds (they can't). I will *hopefully* get some better ones for a comparison, but I have a fat belly now and don't want to get someone to take them for me :p I guess I will have to swallow my pride and ask!

Sorry, whats your aversion to proper solid foods? Correct me if I'm wrong, but , isn't your new liquid diet supposed to be a supplement to your diet rather than replacement?

Not in this case.

The Velocity diet is a short term ketabolic diet fot cutting; that's to say lowering your bodyfat percentage whilst retaining as much muscle mass as possible.

It's a bit extreme, but I've read good things about it. This will be the first first hand review I'd read from someone going though it, so it will be interesting.

I think ultra had some good progress on this as well so I'm looking forward to seeing how you find it

Good luck fus :]

this will be one of the first threads i have ever subscribed to!!

My bro started this about a week ago. After the first few days he seemed to settle into it.

He's been overloading on fish oil tablets as well which my other brother has been doing to. Apparently it works wonders alongside the v diet, as well as on a regular cutting diet.

Yeah will be interesting to see how it goes mate. I belive it was morba who previously said the simplicity of it appealed to him, it does to me too. Its so clear cut no ifs or buts just your next shake.

Anyway good luck fus :D

good luck, I'll be following the thread.

we need before and after pics though, get snapping!

As has been said - good luck. :)

I'm not sure I could do anything like that as I almost went mad when I ate nothing but apples for 3 days (long story).

Will I get in trouble for asking why this is better than your normal atkins type keto diet? What's wrong with eating food?

I know this is meant to be simple, but buying all those suppliments doesn't exactly sound simple, and I can imagine that most people do quite like food :p

Just spent 2 minutes looking for the subscribe button (first time :p).

I'll be very interested into how you get on, similarly the simplicity of it all appeals to me.

Where do you purchase all of these from? Is there a best place to get supplements from, like whey powder drinks for post workouts? (I'm new to all this cutting/gym lark)

www.myprotein.co.uk :)

if you enter the code: MP72377 you'll get 5% off your first order

So this thread does have some interest. I'm glad, though the pressure to be strict on myself is now greater! This, I think, is good news. Thanks!

Terrible, unflexed pic in first post now!

Stats, for those who asked are;

W; 13.11 stone
H; 5;11
Waist; 34
What else do you want to know?

Day One; Update

So, I was at work when I started this thread, so I will add some flesh to the bones of my opening post. I have been lifting for a year, initially naively and ignorant to the importance of diet. Thus, as my strength increased, so did my belly. Luckily, I was able to increase my knowledge of foods early enough on so I could change my diet and I didn't get *too* fat, but still had the love handles. And they're still there now. Not for much longer.

I've chosen the V diet for its simplicity and its dramatic results. I intend to be on it for 28 days, though I assume after 3 weeks the results will be satisfactory.

So, I know you're all dieing to know, how is it? Well, this day has been easy. Temptation has come, and, well...gone! Just like that. It would have been nice to have some toast, or pasta, sure, but nothing tastes as good as having the abs/defined muscles will feel. This is the philosophy for this whole project.

When I read about this diet I was shocked to find that people reported a lack of hunger. Well, they're right. After a shake, with flax and 1 scoop of MPC I can easily hold off the hunger untill the next shake. This makes the temptation to cheat even less.

So, I'm not hungry, I've not cheated, and I feel, well 'normal' - all good, right?

Right!

I bet you were expecting me to say the opposite there, but no, everything is grand.

I trained today, too. Chest, shoulders and triceps. I thought this session would be hard, no workout 'fuel' so to speak.

Excercise's completed;

3x10 bench @ 80kg
3x10 dumb flyes @ 25kg
3x10 arnold press @ 22.5kg
2x10 dips (at the end of session so just bodyweight)
1x15 tricep pushdown at 25kg

All completed, all with strict form and movements, all feeling the same as usual. However, I definately did not feel as, and I hate this word, but 'pumped'. I could tell the muscle had been worked, but didn't get the same feeling as usual. However, the lack of carbs today (and heavily restricted yesterday) hasn't had an impact at the gym.

So, in closing. Day one has been a success. Now all that remains is my last shake, and some quark/zma/fishoil before bed.

Until tomorrow, or perhaps friday for a big update!

Comments welcome, guys*!

*not about fat belly :p

I forgot to add. One thing that people forget to mention with diets of this kind, unless it's just common knowledge that i'm unaware of, is your mouth.

Stick with me here. People take for granted the way their mouth tastes, and I assume it tastes that way because of the mastication (chewing) that we all do on a daily basis. Perhaps the carbs we constantly chow down on allow our mouth to stay fresh, because at the moment I'm sure something is dead/dieing in my mouth. It tastes absolutely disgusting. I'm sure my breath stinks, too. Yummy, I'm sure you will agree. I would certainly say that this is a negative to this diet.

I also have a question or two;

a) Is there a sugar free version of an 'Ice Tea' in this country?

b) What is an alternative way to flavor my shakes? I am running low on my BSL flavouring, and will have to buy more, but if I run out would say, Options, be a suitable substitute? Or is it too high carbs...?

This is the easiest diet in history.

Buy; 1 tub whey, 1 tub milk protein (this is so you have a fast and slow release protein blend, alternatively buy a pre-made blend like pro-peptide, but it gets expensive that way)

500g milled flax seed - add 1 spoonful of this to each shake, except for PWO

A big tub of EFA fish oils. Take three of these with each shake, and some before bed.

And that's it. 5/6 shakes, some flax seed and some oils. No mess, no fuss. Couldn't be simpler.

Strange question, are the shakes made with water or milk? Can't stand them with water, and I assume that's how they'll be made? Cheers.

Very, very tempted by this diet, as I love protein shakes anyway, although I thing 5 or 6 a day might take some digesting!

Yes water, as milk is rather high in carbs. If you have different flavourings it's not too bad.
