Vac ban

MW2 specifically - the VAC bans no longer matter, they were all lifted because the game is so dead, population-wise.

Family sharing - not sure what you mean there?
Yes, the game will still be under the limits of a VAC ban if accessed by family sharing.

Honestly, I'd forget about it. A VAC ban from years ago is nothing.

Op, it was 6 years ago. forget it and move on, people are allowed to make mistakes. Better to make a mistake and learn from it than be a pretentious arse like some people in this thread.

Yes, and IIRC any family sharing accounts and any accounts also connected to the same phone number also get vac banned.

No. VAC bans are on a per account basis only.

It's irrelevant if another account is linked by IP, phone number, payment method etc.

I've done a bit of testing.. For the good side :)

I find this post pretentious...

Then you need to go look up the definition of the word.

nobody likes a cheater.

Sad. it was 6 years ago. People change, people learn, people grow up. Well, some of us do.

People who do care about something as insignificant as a ban 6 years ago should just be ignored anyway, waste of time and effort trying to convince people you're not still a cheater. Nobody else will care.

You can always create a new Steam account and re purchase the game? I mean, it is not the best result but meh.

VAC and Game bans apply to all accounts on a phone number
If an account that has a phone number registered to it receives a VAC or Game ban, all other accounts that used the same phone number at the time of the infraction will also receive a ban. If the other accounts do not own the game they will still receive the ban and be unable to purchase the title on that account. The phone number on an account that receives a ban will be suspended for three months and cannot be applied to another account during that time. The cooldown duration for applying a phone number after a ban will increase each time a cooldown is applied.
This feature is not enabled for all games and will be used at the discretion of the developer.

From steam TOS

I heard that MW2 is one of many COD games that have been VAC enabled now so loads of bans have been sent out and hence why people are returning back to the game. No idea how true this is as a streamer who plays old FPS'ers mentioned this yesterday.

It is quite vague but definitely a thing.

Yeah I remember it now, I *think* it was introduced as a feature in the middle of last year for the game I was helping out with at the time and we had new config options for steam VAC bans etc. Not something I or any of the other server hosters decided to use though based on how irrelevant a VAC ban can be!

MW2 was always VAC enabled, however, 1-2 years ago, players with VAC bans were once again able to join multiplayer lobbies. It's still infested by modded lobbies and cheaters though. Not worth trying to play again regularly.

Some hate here for the OP eh......

Everybody is guilty until proven innocent....

For those who think Steam accounts are a closed vault, I would take a long look at your complacency.... 77,000 accounts a month were being Hijacked as of December 2015.

To the OP

I would move on TBH. The game can be bought for £20 and your account is 6-7 years old.

Why do you want it back anyway?

Ah the old "my account was hacked" excuse, a classic

This, cheaters always cry the most :D ....it's never them, always someone else's fault.

Added: to the poster above, it's not about hate, it's just that 9/10 the people creating these threads have cheated, I'm not saying this OP has, but if I was running VAC, there is no way I should lift a ban like this, why did he not get it removed when the hack actually took place, ...more I think about this ...the stronger the smell gets!
