Valkyrie - To the skies! *Sponsored*

I am very tempted as an upgrade for my 5950x, but feeling a bit poor atm after speding most of the money I saved up on a car.... maybe in a few months/a year!

I literally bought one because i needed to free up the 9800X3D for some build mods lol! What better excuse to upgrade the workstation to this processor!

If you wait a year, you’ll probably get a hefty discount too knowing AMD! Here’s hoping!

Nice problem to have!
TBH I'm pleasantly surprised that they've launched at the price they have, hopefully it'll trend down rather than up by the time I'm ready to spend money :)

Same, i was expecting more and im pleasantly surprised! If it was more i would have waited too tbh.

Been testing core parking on a variety of games and it's lovely to see it working properly!

Really loving your builds, @Jay85 - so much thought and care put into each.

If I could pick your brain for moment:
I recently picked up a MoRa 420 (white with Noctua 200mm fans & chrome cover), as well as an EK FLT 360 pump/res.

I'd love to put a smaller system together (currently using a Lancool 2), making use of the FLT & MoRa - using QD fittings to link/detach when needed.

I have an m-ATX motherboard (B550M) and a new MSI Mag 1000 PSU (not quite SFX, but definitely compact) and a 7800XT Nitro (no water block available )

Would be grateful for any inspiration...

Open frame like this and an external res would be a nice build but you'll need to get creative with the outlet ports and return. Maybe utilising a manifold would help you keep things neat in that aspect. I did a similar thing with one of my projects using an Alphacool ES Distroplate C2, compact but does the job nicely!

Any particular open frame chassis in mind or are you just pondering?

9070XT maybe? My sources tell me a few blocks are coming for this gpu

Credit also deserved for excellent photography. Goes a long way.

Thanks, been slowly upgrading my setup for better lighting. Recently bought some adjustable/dimmable bulbs with different colour temperatures for a different feel.

Will see how that turns out on the next photo session... which should be very soon!

Funny you should say that, I've noticed quite a distinct sickly green hue creeping in recently. The sort of thing you get when you have low CRI LEDs which throws your white balance off.

As you're always revising and expanding I figured you'd be changing something up soon so didn't bring it up :P

:p It's in the works of being fixed so to speak! I can correct it in Lightroom but it's not always perfect unfortunately. Hoping these new LED's will be better but we'll see haha!

Could be total rubbish too...

I'm currently all boxed up waiting on a house move (I was so close to getting Asteria II wrapped up over Christmas, too :( ) but I'm going to experiment with a couple of RGBW smart bulbs I got for cheap from Amazon when I'm back up and running. CRI of 95, which you'd expect given they're for home illumination, with presets for the common whitepoints.

If they work for photography and video then we got some real funky versatility for lighting.

I never bother with it and just do all my post in Photoshop proper. All the same controls are there but it's all non-destructive, plus you can apply multiple passes. Much more control IMO.

I'd be surprised if they don't work for photography! I mean we could go all out and go for the professional grade lamps but we're talking hundreds if not £1000's for each lamp lol.

I find LR so much easier and with the new updated features, it makes editing so much easier and less time consuming too. Video editing is still a ball ache though unfortunately which i rarely have time for. Shame really as i would love to get back into it properly.

When's the house move? Looking forward to creating your new safe space? :D

When the current owner gets her rear in gear and buggers off lol Speedrunning a house purchase before you get evicted from your current rental isn't something I'd recommend :P

Annoyingly I made a big drive to properly sort out the spare bedroom I'd been working in, try some new video stuff and make a big push to get Asteria II done over Christmas. But what started as a clear out carried on into actually boxing up, so I gotta wait now.

But yes, depending on where the other half wants to set up her sleeping and living space, I may have all 3 bedrooms and the office to myself. Planning on a "dirty" room for the painting and fabrication and a "clean" room for 3D printing, electronics work, assembly and documenting.

Hopefully gonna be good!

So an upgrade to the already big upgrade has happened! Was having issues with getting low latency memory kits to work on the Gigabyte board... maybe with future bios updates it will work better.

In the meantime, i decided to make a big leap and go all out on the Asus X870i Gaming Wifi motherboard. This thing has no issues with the low latency memory kits i have! The 64GB CL28 kit running at 6000mhz with tweaked settings just works.

More pictures to come shortly!

Have Asus just given up on making their G4M3RZ ***** even look good? If that were my board the very first thing I'm doing is ripping off the logo crap where possible, filling and resurfacing with putty where necessary :p

Your overall build will still bang though, but dear God that's a fugly board.

Yep, unfortunately this is ROG branding and we can't get away from it . The pattern and design looks decent but the its the logo's that ruin it.

Oh trust me you can get away from it :P unless it's sponsored, of course...

Asrock would have been my next go to board but the recent fiasco of dying cpu's on the 3.20 bios has got me slightly worried so im holding off any further samples.
