Valve Index 2 (codenamed Deckard) Standalone

Going to be a while off as they're only recently hiring for a computer vision specialist to work on their inside-out tracking system. They may have beaten Oculus to market with the Vive and then the Index, but they have a long way to catch up with Meta on the Quest 2 tracking systems.

This really can't come quick enough. I think at best it's 12 months away :(

Sadly I think that’s probably optimistic too… I had initially hoped we might see it in 2023 but I’m thinking it may be a 2024 product (if indeed it ever materialises, Valve are ultimately a law unto themselves!).

This is a headset I’ve been pinning a lot of my future hopes for VR on, fingers crossed it arrives sooner rather than later.

at least by that time I'll have saved enough money for a 5090 or even 6090 to run the thing :D

you know what

after seeing this new Primax Portal

i bet that where This was headed to

Steam deck inside a VR headset ?

what do you think ?

Seems like the pimax is trying to be all things to everybody. It's a neat concept but I think it's not going to be great at all of it.
If they made a headset like a PC where you could upgrade the mobo, processor, screens, lenses and cameras as better parts come out.

That would surely be really tough for developers to work with I'd have thought?

yeah
i think with the index iirc, you can adjust the strap by moving a thing you pull out and notch it up or down to the next one ? controllers look the same design with built in straps

trackpads on VR controllers don't work
and yes the meta quest controllers are the benchmark and everyone copies it lol

laest information i can find :

And that tells us nothing new. It's the same old regurgitated information from a couple of years ago when Valve brought out those patents for Deckard. And that's mostly for a head-strap, not the headset itself.

That article is so bad, it doesn't show the patents for the VR Controllers.
