I’ve been dying to order a quest 2 and you have convinced me.

What are some games you would recommend to start with to avoid the inevitable sickness?

The sickness isn't inevitable. Games like Eleven Table tennis, Walk about golf, Beat Saber and Super hot are some of the good starting ones.

But, the sickness is easy to deal with if you play right. Play any game you want, the second you start to feel nauseous stop playing and take off the headset. Wait until you fully recover, then try again. You will find that you are slowly building up the amount to time that you can play before feeling sick. Eventually you will be able to play for ages and not feel sick at all.

The important thing is don't be a tough guy and try to push through the sick feeling and keep playing. That only makes it worse and takes far longer to get used to VR that way.

keep your sessions short and go easy on games with any kind of teleport or motion enforced on your character to begin with.

Then what tends to happen is your brain builds up tolerance.

People that want to experience rollercoasters, space sim dog fighting or open world games from the go run a high chance of hitting motion sickness issues imho... build up to it is my advice.

I know,I'm definitely going to take it easy to start with!

The Quest 2 is coming today!

I think I've got everything downloaded I need to start with.

Oculus software,Windows mixed reality and Steam VR

Half-life:Alyx and Star Wars Squadron

Okay,so I've connected it to Windows 11.

Airlink works and I've set the bitrate to 200mbs.I've got the Quest 2 resolution set to the highest resolution and 120hz,but it still looks blurry to me.

The battery is lasting no time at all, they are almost forcing you to buy the enhanced strap with the extra battery!

The Quest 2 doesn't work like that. If you have the graphic settings and bitrate too high for your system/connection it will look terrible. Think about it. Imagine if you were trying to play a game on a 2070 at 4K, you wouldn't have a very good experience. But, you have the Quest 2 set at a much res than 4K. It's actually 5408 x 2736.

Did you check your IPD like I said in my last post?

120hz uses way more battery life. The battery lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours at 90hz, It drops to around 1.5 hours at 120Hz.

It’s only possible using a cable but you can change to 400Mbps or maybe 500Mbps using Oculus debug tool that gets installed. Have this set to 0 though when using airlink/wireless. Also may need to drop to 80 or 90 fps depending on your GPU.
The slight fuzziness in some games is the USB compression which you’ll also get wireless, though some games you won’t notice this. The only way to get sharp monitor clarity for all PCVR games really is a headset that has direct HDMI/DVI.
The Quest 2 native stuff is great though, and depending on game and your GPU you can get very close to removing all compression artefacts

In addition to what Mel has said, don't buy the official elite strap. Get a regular powerbank and attach that to the back of the strap you have. Velcro cable ties (or hair bands, or regular cable ties) should all be capable of doing that. It'll greatly extend your battery life, and improve comfort as it acts as a counterweight.

EDIT - And just to double confirm, trying to drive effectively 2 4k screens at 120fps, is not going to work with a 2070.

I've tried different resolutions and I have not noticed any difference. It's like it stuck at 720p.

I haven't tried HL:Alyx or star wars squadrons to see what I think yet.

Think I will try the Fibre cable to see if it helps.

120hz using more battery makes sense.

Yes,I have set the IPD to 3,which has made a difference to some extent.

If I could just get windows looking better and cut out the blur a bit, in general,I would be very impressed with the Quest 2.

Loving the VR experience so far despite the above issue!
