Valve making three Steam-related announcements next week

Indeed, it may have been leaked, but it hasn't officially been announced. So seems the most likely along with maybe the next generation of source engine.

It's no longer needed now, runs fine on OSX and Ubuntu and has done for a while.

That would mean the games would be faster too and no windows overhead.

hmm.... i am interested but i hope it isn't annoying for desktop users like big picture, its a nice concept and i would use it if i could stand my tv as a monitor but when you accidently open it and shut down your computer using it, its REALLY ANOYING, if its a steam OS or the new steam box i'm excited

I like the idea of it, a lot. Bringing non-console gaming to the living room... makes PC gaming a viable alternative to console gaming. Especially an OS that steam can make and customise from the ground up to optimise for gaming!

How good is that streaming going to be though? pretty important if only a small percentage of games will run on linux...

They've said that many AAA titles will be natively ported. Presumably all games that are launched from now on, too.

The Nvidia Shield has had nothing but decent reviews concerning this so I don't see why it wouldn't be better on something with decent hardware behind it (not that Tegra 4 isn't decent!)
