I don't get valve, they make all that money from steam and should have enough resources to work on multiple games at any time, you'd think they would deliver something the fans really want.
As good as l4d and portal are, they weren't the main attraction, i want to see hl3 more like what hl1, i wasn't a fan of the depressing world of hl2, at this point i've lost interest, i doubt they'll ever get back the kind of greatness of hl1 and the mod community that went with it, such a shame.

When has any boss ever known whats good for the company or its customers? Valve is no different.
Perhaps but they seem like more of a decent developer who care about their fans, so thats why this is so odd, they would have been better off making those episodes on a predictable time scale with a huge improvement to the engine every five or so years as a new game, developed alongside their other games.
Unless they're waiting for next gen consoles and have something truly great being worked on they've let us down, taking so long doesn't do much good, hype often leads to disappointment.
You honestly think valve doesnt know people want an episode 3 or Half Life 3 despite the fact theyre always asked about it?
Valve is probably the most in touch with the community developer there is currently. When they have something to show us, they will.

Gabe knows exactly what is good for his company. Hence they are richer per person than Apple, and have a ridiculously low turnover rate of staff as its ones of the best game studios to work.
Also customers are stupid, its a well known fact.
Valve knows what is best and I have NEVER been disappointed by their releases, ever.
Valve and Blizzard are probably the only developers left who release a finished, polished game.
I will wait as long as it takes as long as they stay around doing what they do best for a long time.

and that why 90% of games are boring rubbish. multiple teams of people working flat out to release as much uninspiring poop off the production line as possible - not the valve way
