Yup :( the game makers have run out of money, its a case of release now or never i think.

where you say run out i think you mean, SOE cut funding and told them to release now

(although i do have a bias against SOE these days)

That does seem to be the case. Give it six months after release and it'll be a cracking game, but expect a very rocky first month or two I think.

Ive heard that repeated on this page a few times, they are releasing patches more than once a day. My Performance has gone up 10fps and the stuttering gone. No one has mentioned that, so I guess I should. Soe doesnt have any creative input over the game, all they do is collect the subs and "host" the tech support forums.

Dont unfairly critisise this game, it does look like an improvement over MMORGs I have played before, namely SWG and City Of Villains.

Its probably due to people mouthing off that they have decided not to have a centralised forum, where people can all go to moan. They reckon the message on a centralised forum that gets across is not the one the majority of players agree with. They are allowing "fansites" to hold the forums.

Quite where everyone comes out with "its not nearly finished" I dont understand. A MMORG is never finished, people pay subs and they keep working on it. If not bug fixing then adding new features. Dont shoot a get down while its still in beta, at least have played it before u shoot ** mouth off.

Yea its still a killer title and like the above poster said the devs are working really hard on it and patches are released daily.

i have no doubt the devs are, and i know SOE has no creative input, doesnt stop them from having other inputs, deadlines, finance, that sort of thing.

true an mmo is never finished...hell look at swg, its been 3 different games now

lets face it though, anything with SOE anywhere near it tends to carry some degree of scepticism these days

Character models look fine to me :)

I proberly wont be buying it as im already subing to a diff mmorpg

That 1 :D

D&D?

Looks nice but i've heard its not much of a solo game, and finding people to play with in mmorpg's in the bane of my gamesplaying life, hence i gave it a miss.

anyone got a cdkey to play this that they don't want no more? trying to find a sign up page & seems all have run out :(

Keys are registered to your station account , so not much chance of being given 1 tbh

The term 'commerical suicide' comes to mind, being one of the lucky few who got a key from Eurogamer I've experienced the current state of Vanguard and to think this is being released to the public in 2 weeks is beyond stupid. At a similar stage bug wise when I beta tested WoW the game still had another 3 months left prior to release

The list of bugs and problems is truely epic, I've played 3 different races, one from each continent and leveled each to level 10. The lag is horrendous at times, quests are bugged or simply don't work, the map is as about as useful as being stranded on a desert island with a crate of food and no can opener. The classes appear to be being altered and changed on a patch basis, the times that skill icons don't work or get stuck is common. I could go on but I think you get the idea and yes I'm aware its a beta, but having beta tested other games at a similar stage of development Vanguard really is a shambolic mess.

Its a great pity, you get the feeling there a great game trying to emerge and theres some novel ideas and at times the game can be fun for short periods but then the problems slap you in the face.

As many have stated in game and also on forums, the game needs another 4-6 months testing and fine tuning, am I surprised as to why its being rushed out now, nope not at all. The whole affair is starting to remind me of the demise of SWG and the way SOE handled that disaster. Add to that the release of WOW Burning Crusade next week which will grab tons of publicity and draw quite a few gamers back to WOW I suspect. Real pity. :(

EDIT:Plus turbine have added more solo quests, up to a lvl 5 quest i think can be soloed but i usally pick normal instead

Not meaning to be rude, but if that High Quality then good lord I feel for those who have to lower the settings. It looks like junk.

That D&D Screenshot is more what I'd expect from a New MMORPG in terms of GFX.
Its a JPG, the vibrancy of colour is lost and I havent tried "highest quality". However I would not be seen dead playing any game which substitutes trying to emulate realistic settings with cartoon graphics. Looking at that other screenshot just after mine, if u look at the the surface it looks like a polished table top. If I were trying to improve MMORGs I would start with foliage. Its the first time Ive seen grass 2 feet tall in a game.

America's army which uses the same engine, looks completely barron in comparison.

What impresses me is that it IS the same engine, the unreal engine, that I have played unreal tournament, ut2k3, ut2k4 & americas army with; and they have just jacked up the detail level.

As I said before if you played Star wars galaxies, its the same open landscape (not restrictive like apparently WoW is), but it has detail plastered all over it. Even bare areas look awesome with the bumpmapping which creates depth to surfaces which is actually a rather more straight polygon surface.

I played SWG for almost 2 years, I never played WoW and dont appreciate cartoon graphics (with every inn being identical apparently), now the landscape is something else.

As for bugs? Yes they may be a few, apart from a few graphical anomilies (which have already been sorted In BETA), I have encountered a total of 1 bug. Apparently a quest did not have a chest to loot, but I just moved on.

I quit SWG cause they changed it to the NGE, I know SoE made that. However I can move on. Ive played City of Villains and their customer support actually sucks. NCsoft.

Just because WoW runs on a 500Mhz CPU everyone loves it. I tried Vanguard due to the fact that I have a decent spec rig for 1280*1024. I wanted to be impressed with the graphics.

I say again these graphics are a monumental leap forward in terms of detail compared to SWG (which is the same type of world) and compared to previous games using the unreal engine. Regardless if u prefer cartoon style graphics, if u dont agree with me on that point u are just very blinkered.

Yes the map isnt all that helpful but the emphasis is on exploration and a combat toon is called an adventurer, it just makes u read the quest text for hints in directions. Im sure after a few weeks you will know exactly where u are going and how to get there.

Classes appear to be being altered in beta? You cant be seriously saying that this is anything other than normal? Every MMORPG I know has had balancing done in live.

I dont usually bigup games. Having actually played it and listen to some of the harsh criticism its starting to get on my ****. If I was looking for a new MMORPG I would chose this one. I would recommend it to anyone else looking for a MMORPG too.

To anyone who thinks the graphics suck, now that the performance issues have been sorted, I want to see graphics which you consider are better. Dont make me laugh by posting screenshots of a 2 year old MMORPG either.

Correct.

I've been in the beta since the very beginning back in 2005 and the changes this game have undergone recently are rather saddening.

This game is not ready for release and it's being forced out the door by Sony.

Back in beta 2 if you'd asked me if I'd be playing this at release I would have said yes, most defininitely. Now there's no way I'm going to be buying this, I may give it six months and see if the game is ready then.

They have a bit more control than that, they're the reason the game is being released early.
