VARcical Decision

Just listening to that audio, Michael Oliver is clearly desperate to give the penalty, nobody else thought it was a pen. Just seems a shambles.

They've overturned the Skelly ban

Quite suprised by that. As has been said, it wasn't an intentionally nasty tackle but it fundamentally ended up that way through bad luck which is how many red cards go.

I think they trialled it in a tonne of games and it only resulted in 3 corners. I’d welcome it if they can be consistent with it, knowing our refs I have zero faith.

Yeah, it’s never been enforced properly, I thought it was supposed to result in an indirect free kick, maybe that’s why and changing it to a corner will means it’s more enforced.
Exactly. There was zero consistency to it. Twenty years later fans are still asking for consistency. Has been a rule since then and still is. I remember Alan Shearer scoring from one against West Brom from about 5 yards out by just absolutely blasting it in off one of their men on the goal line. Other than that I don't remember seeing any others given.

I mean, this is a very easy one for them to enforce and enforcement would stop it immediately. Then again, there are so many things that could be stopped instantly with a crack down that aren't remotely subjective.

Absolutely no surprise that Evanilson has had his red card resicnded, how they even came to that decision to send him off is baffling.

No and according to Dale Johnson the key match panel are likely to confirm that a yellow card was the correct outcome for Adam's challenge.

That jockey Martinez has got away with a few so maybe it is just small clubs that are allowed to do them.

The rationale from Dale Johnson was that he gets the ball and only makes contact with the foot and that had the challenge been higher then he'd have likely been sent off.

Martinez gets away with them for man udt so i guess the answer is yes, small clubs 'get away with them' ;)

it wasn't 2 footed anyway :P

edit - bah, i should always update the damn the before replying

and if he made contact with one of those he'd be off, rightly so. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make
Doesn’t have to make contact, the intent is there from the lunge, so it’s serious foul play

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.
