Posted by user mockingbird on Hardforums; AMD plans to release Vega refresh in 2018.

"Vega refresh will come enabled with features such as primitive shaders and tile-based rasterization that AMD wasn't able to get working with the initial Vega's release.

There will also be other features that AMD will tout as new, but are features that AMD wasn't able to get working with Vega's initial release.

In other words, Vega refresh will be what Vega was supposed to be.

Now, if you are a current Vega owner, don't get too excited because these features will require new hardware.

I hate to tell you, but you bought a alpha product and no magical drivers can fix that."

Bummer for current Vega owners if true......time will tell.

I'm afraid that user who posted this claim didn't have any source to back it up other than expecting people to "take his words for it", so take it as a pinch of salt.

I’m sure that the people who bought vega already won’t really care because they would have bought the current vega no matter what.

Not really a big deal, I already have the Ryzen refresh on my wish list shopping cart, Will get this one and slap an AIO on it or get the AIO version :)

Someone said something on a forum, quick start a thread.

I happen to know that the GTX 1180 will be 75% faster than the 1080ti and will sell for $350 to eliminate AMD from the GPU business. Dont ask for proof though, just believe something that fits your preconceptions.

I'd ignore the whole thing, Are we sure this isn't a certain OCUK member in disguise?

In that case it must be true... :D

I've actually seen that same poster somewhere else before saying the same thing about another product, Can't remember what it was but he said the same thing "I know someone I met down the pub come back next year" just someone looking for attention.

I happen to know that there will be an 1180 Tea model that uses the heat from the card to make hot drinks. Superb cooling, low noise and a nice cup of tea! Can't go wrong with that.

There's no way it produces enough heat to make a cup of tea. All the heat you will get from an 1180 is a gentle breeze, like a lover breathing on your cheek at night. No proof, Just bookmark the thread and tell me I'm right.

Yeah because AMD released lasered off or otherwise gimped silicon that they had been working on for years, taped out at millions in R&D plus fab costs and then advertised it as being something that can't actually work until rev2 which is a process refinement not a new design, just to **** over early adopters, drag thier own name through the mud and potentially get not only slapped by every consumer regulatory body in every non 3rd world ***hole country known but then open themselves up to a massive class action suit/s in several jurisdictions.

Totally believable. I'm convinced.

The next release of gameworks will contain a module called 'ThinkWorks'* which will provide world class AI processing for games. Nvidia will be able to sell you a separate AI card to run this exclusive proprietary library **.

* Building on the tessellation model, ThinkWorks has evolved the 'measure twice, cut once' ideology into the 'measure twice, cut twice, compare, dispose, recut' process which has been specifically optimised in their GP102/GP204/GP208 platforms.
** Individual tests may show that the hardware AI offers no performance improvements over open source CPU alternatives.

Clock for Clock there is next to no difference from Fuji and Vega:

on one hand I call BS on this for the above reason, on the other hand I this could be true and while working features might help performance more of the chip being used will also mean more power, so a clocked and power staved heater of a chip will just have be throttled even more.

Vega is still a modern day R600, Rankine (NV30) and to a lesser degree Fermi (NVC0)

I don't thing a refresh/die srink is going to fix the core problems with core of there current architecture sadly.
