Vegas 2021

8 nights feels a lot in Vegas unless gambling is something that you're keen on. There are other things to do, but not enough to fill that time

I've stayed at the Bellagio, nice place, of course pricey - but it's Vegas right. We did have a fountain view room, which was nice - but it's not the case I was starring outside all the time?

I think Vegas is a love or hate type of place, for me I won't go back - I did 3 nights (I don't gamble). I also went near the end of June, rather busy and crazy hot - even in the evenings. Imagine a hairdryer at full heat and speed hitting you! I personally would look to explore, a few have mentioned Yosemite, Canyon, Death Valley etc.

PS. What are myvegas rewards? :D

Out of that revised selection I'd do 4 nights at the Bellagio and 4 nights at the Mirage. Mirage is probably an inferior hotel to the Mandalay Bay but the location is far superior.

I've never stayed in the Aria, it is quite possibly a step up on the Bellagio but I'm just in love with the Bellagio so thats a personal preference thing.

Why do people struggle so much to spell "Mandalay Bay"?

Might go to Vegas myself in 2022 so this is all good info. Probably would only do 4 nights as I'm not bothered about gambling and it's expensive.

yeh makes sense to go there then.

Yep, don't want to see the architecture, general scenery, nightlife, world class restaurants, leisure stuff like Fremont Street, grand canyon, shoot machine guns, day trips, Raiders NFL, etc.

I'm not sure I'd rush to Vegas to see the architecture :p:D

But either way I'm with you, I go every year (not always out of choice) and I'm not that bothered about gambling.

Its the official app for MGM Resorts on Android and/ iOS, Its basically slots which is free to play with "fake money" but you build up real world rewards such as hotel stays etc. They make their money with microtransactions which you can buy extra credits with but this is optional and you don't need to pay a penny to build up your rewards. In fact on the phone apps you don't even have to play at all, if you leave the app running it builds up your rewards by its self. I've built enough rewards for 8 free nights in 2 weeks spending about a hour a day playing. I have personally spent about $9 on each of my 2 accounts as it gave me enough credits to leave the slots on Auto over night to build up my rewards, but many people don't spend a penny. Plenty of tutorials online.

There are a number of apps which all have the rewards which link together to maximise rewards :

Myvegas
Pop Slots
Mykonami
My Vegas Blackjack

And then Myvegas facebook game.

So its sounding like 8 nights might be too long then. I might lower it to a 4 night stay and then a 2 night stay with my remaining rewards spent on food and shows. This leaves me 8 days to fill on the trip and it seems yosemite might be off the table due to the time of year as i don't fancy driving in any snow!

Mandalay Bay is lovely, the only downside is its at the end of the strip so its not great for exploring everywhere. Bellagio is more central so better for exploring. MGM and New York are a little dated and slightly more central, but not a lot.
Personally if i was doing the 4 day split I'd do Bellagio first do all the walking on the strip, go out into the wild and then back to Mandalay and just relax there, they have a great outdoor pool, probably the best there.

Get a flight to San Diego, it's great and highs of 23°C as well...it still gets dark early though.

Or you can rent a car and drive, but it's quite a long, dull drive.

4 days bellagio

Then Mandalay bay.

Mandalay bay is huge you could just stay there and not leave for 4 days on its own.

The wine bar is a sight to behold. It will take you like an hour to walk around the ground floor if not more. So long as you aren't speed running through everything without looking.

Plenty of great places to visit at that time of year within a sensible drive of Vegas:
- Grand Canyon
- Joshua Tree national park
- Palm Springs

24 hours in Vegas is about my limit... :D

Not sure it's going to be that nice laying by the pool in October, the 3 times we've been have been end Feb early March and none of the hotel pools were open.

If you go to Vegas over a weekend be prepared to be overrun by hammered Americans (especially on the Strip where they'll be staggering about with Fat Tuesday slushies spilling all over the place), the prices leap for weekends and also as marijuana is legal everywhere outside reeks of it or at least that was our experience this Feb.

There's loads to do besides gambling, in the 3 times we've been I'd be amazed if we'd spent more than £100 total gambling.

Also if you have car a drive to Hoover Dam, Boulder City and onwards into the Grand Canyon should be do-able (you could always spend a night in Grand Canyon Village).

This sounds great! So you have got 8 free nights for an hour of playing each night for a fortnight? I probably waste 30 minutes a day playing phone games so definitely going to look at this.

Any drawbacks I need to know about? This sounds too good to be true...

Everything is cheaper during the week too and free upgrades. Buy cheapest tickets for shows they will move you to the front anyway.
