Vegas Hotels

I'm staying on a bit after TheDean departs and have a further 10 days.... Would i get a better deal signing up to a casino hotel for the duration or would it be a better experience hopping around from hotel to hotel... (dates 29th Jan - 7th Feb)....

.. I'm not looking for anything flashy so if anyone has spotted some cheap deals (or deals with comps attached) for a few nights stay in a "reputable" casino/hotel then let me know...

.... Also for part of the last week i will need to be down the south end of the strip... what are peoples top picks for this end as far as accommodation and gaming go?

Cheers

Wow checked flights yesterday and was close to booking Manchester to Vegas for £680, checked again today and got it for £506 from LHR. Result :)

However, bargain of the CENTURY is my mates flight. Dublin to Vegas with BA (connects in Gatwick then direct from there) for.... £420  The single from Gatwick to Vegas is £700+... crazy.

Happy with that!

Query for the Vegas regs re: Currency.

My plan has been to take $300 cash for tips, and chuck everything else on my Halifax Clarity Credit card (no foreign exchange fee, no cash withdrawl fee) but now I'm hearing the Casino's themselves levy a charge onto withdrawls as well?! Is this the case, if so I'll just bring cash...which I would prefer not to for security reasons

They do but it's per transaction. So take a lot out at once and you're fine.

Also machines on the casino floor are generally more than those in gift shops etc. not by much if you withdraw infrequently though.

I have a week of training and then 9 days off followed by another week of training in Vegas.

Once TheDean goes home i have 6 days to do what i want (Suggestions?) and then i have to be back in Vegas (business centre near the airport so probably stay at the south end of the strip but all suggestions welcome as i am a first time Vegas visitor)

Go to LA at a bare minimum. I would go to San Fran, then LA, then back to Vegas. I have told you all this, but you are horrifically lazy and won't listen to me ;)

Take $20 and withdraw the rest from your clarity.

So the Casino's don't charge a levy then? I am also feeling you are underestimating my drinking habits considerabably, and thus my need for tips ;)
Also cash withdrawals will still accrue interest daily so consider a large overpayment just before you go ;-)

A man after my own heart! Exactly what I'm planning, just don't want any nasty Casino percentage charges for buying chips or whatever when on the casino floor!

I meant from an ATM. ie, make a big cash withdrawl from the ATM and use that for your dollars.

It is against the T&C's of your account to overpay. The interest works out to be about 1.5% a month. So if you take out £1000 then it will cost you less than a tenner in interest if you pay it back within 2 weeks, its no big deal.

the casino ones charge a massive amount, up to 10% the other ones are a lot less (but scarce)

That is insane! When you say 'the other ones', what do you mean? I am thinking cash out of ATM's is best here, but which machines charge the least? Am I better to go to an ATM at a bank before going into a Casino for example? Are there ones on the way from the Platinum?

I mean the ones outside of casinos, these are rare though, there are no banks on the strip

from the PLatinum there is one in Ellsi Island round the corner and one on a bar called "stage door" on way to strip, these don't charge too bad on DC, never tried on CC

ATMs are not really a good way to use money in Vegas IMO

Ok, cheers. You would just prefer taking a load of cash? I hate cash...much prefer using cards whenever I can, unless they are charging stupid fees or whatever
