Vertex - When?

Vertex on paper and even better in practise (drive performs better than spec according to people who got the test samples) is the choice for system disk.

Price is OK, and performance is second to none (based on test units).

Motors will never match SSD, because no matter how fast they move they still need to move :p

Vertex is an actual product. They used the experience of early adopters and random designs to perfect it.

People with test samples say all the "problems" are gone and that OCZ found the magic formula of controller/cache/components.

I trust vertex will be good, but only experience I got is with the generic first gen and still as I said access time of SSD in daily life is what makes the difference.

Vertex offers transfer speed + almost instant access time so is a win/win tbh.

Tony from OCZ seemed to be saying they should be with retailers at the end of this week (the one that just ended) or the start of next. Some hit retail in Hong Kong...

Heh, Don't put your hopes on it being this week, you can't trust anything the OCZ guys say when it comes to release dates. May as well go on Valve time.
My best guess is the second half of this month. Once fully fledged reviews (not the previews we've seen so far) start hitting, it's probably only a few days away.

Some people got these drives retail in HK. Nothing yet in the UK though.

I assume OCuk will get priority on this from OCZ in the UK since the first run appears to be limited in numbers.
