very impressed with the 7200.10's

I just read a review on the drive and it did have quite a loud seek noise compared to other drives. Would people still rate this drive over the equivalent WD model?
It's so far superior I wouldn't even consider the WD. It is only the 500GB and 750GBmodels which are quite loud but then again, this is only at seek.

I bought one of these last night online , this will be my first Sata drive

Currently running the following drives

Seagate 7200.08 120GB (Main boot drive)
Seagate 7200.09 250GB (backup drive , film storage etc)

My plan with the new 320Gb 7200.10 is to use that as my main boot drive partitioned into 2. and the have 250Gb as a backup drive. Then i will replug in the 120Gb when i run out of space on the 320Gb. It will stay unplugged to reduce noise.

If the new drive is to noisy it will have to go on the members market.

just got my 320Gb 7200.10 today...just a quick question..did u guys notice a "whitish" liquidity substance at the bottom of the drive...whats that all about..sorry for the noob question.. i dont have any experience with Sata drives...
cheers!

Seagate's are THE most reliable drives. Of course, there is no guarantee something won't fail but by buying a Seagate, you greatly reduce the chance of this occuring. Not to mention perpendicular technology of the Seagate.

Couldnt of said it better. Seagate drives rock. I have had 13 HDs all by seagate, not 1 failed. Great drives.

I will be picking up one of these 7200.10s at the end of the month

Yep, mine had that too. I've no idea what it is but I presume it provides some function. Is it glue or something?

A couple of weeks down the line after having started this thread, and I'm still impressed with the HDD's performance. Pleased as punch!

Ive had mine for a week now, its been a bit iffy on my board, but seems OK now I hope.

When I ran HDtach it said burst was around 150mb, its on the SATAII port.

Got it as a data drive so cant say if it improves load times, seems quietish.

Can others post more HDtach results, specifically the quick test.

Mine is the same as Bin boys, except the burst speed, average read is the same.
