Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali believes Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel could drive as team-mates without problems.
His comments come after it was revealed that Vettel, the 2010 and 2011 world champion, has a pre-contract with Ferrari for 2014.
Domenicali said: "I think they are both intelligent guys and they could easily co-exist together."
F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone claims the arrangement "wouldn't be a problem".
Domenicali and Ecclestone were interviewed by German magazine Sport Bild, and Ferrari published extracts on their website.
Ecclestone said: "All drivers want to drive for Ferrari at least once in their career, don't they?"
Domenicali responded: "In life one should never say never!"

Their remarks, as well as Ferrari's decision to highlight them, will add weight to claims that Vettel could join Alonso at Ferrari in 2014.
BBC Sport reported last month that Vettel had a pre-contract with Ferrari, believed to be two-way and performance-related.
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner denied the claims, saying they had Vettel under contract in 2014.
But Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko, the right-hand man of the company's owner Dietrich Mateschitz, admitted that the double world champion's contract contains performance clauses.
German Vettel, who has said he cannot imagine driving for team other than Red Bull.
Vettel, Alonso and McLaren's Lewis Hamilton are widely regarded as the three best drivers in the world.
The best drivers tend to avoid racing for the same team, but Ecclestone said of Alonso and Vettel: "Both are drivers who are always looking for a new challenge, and to be in the same team would be a new and big challenge.
"They would both think they can beat the other one, as they are sure of themselves and Stefano would do what was required to so that they were treated equally.
"It would be a case of doing what I did at Brabham in 1979 with Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet. I told them, 'guys it's simple: whichever one of you is quickest is the team number one'."
A source close to Ferrari says Alonso has vetoed the idea of Hamilton joining him at the team but given his approval to Vettel.
Alonso is second in the championship heading into this weekend's European Grand Prix, despite starting the season with a car that was more than a second off the pace.
The Spaniard is two points behind Hamilton, and one ahead of Vettel.
Recent improvements have made the Ferrari more competitive, but it has still not been fast enough to set a pole position.
Domenicali said: "Alonso is the fastest driver of all - I'm sure of that - and it's been like that since testing at the start of the year, despite the fact our car was definitely not very quick.
"Now we have improved it, even if we are not yet at the level we want to be. The cars are very close and we are witnessing a really incredible championship which for the fans is a real spectacle."

Feel like if this is true it could be interesting.

I wonder why Vettel would ever want to move from Red Bull to Ferrari though.... Although it certainly seems like this isn't set in stone...
Also, if you did have Alonso and Vettel on the same team, I genuinely feel like it would be interesting to see how Vettel does. Despite not particularly liking him, I feel that Alonso (especially on the back of this years performance), is the better driver out of the two....

Hamilton to Red Bull in 2013.

I hope Perez gets a top team drive elsewhere though, if the Ferrari doors are shut to him.

A pre-contract which is both 2 way and performance related? To me that doesn't sound particularly binding. Sounds like Vettel is just saying he'll talk to Ferrari first if he decides to leave Red Bull.

Hope it's true that Alonso said no to Lewis at Ferrari, Lewis at Red Bull would be a disaster which is why they have said they are not interested in him as they know they are not a team that will give him all the attention he needs to perform.

Seb at Ferrari would be great indeed.

They're definitely not looking for a clear 2nd driver like Massa and Barrichello of previous years.

Rules are different now, teams are much closer so need to get maximum points. In years gone by the top teams could rely on a car advantage of half a second, which is unlikely to be allowed to occur again anytime soon.

body language from msc and monte in the last lap he drove for them video says it all.

dont think the same wont happen for alonso

Doesn't Alonso have a contract until the end of 2016?

Although Kimi showed that contracts wont stop Ferrari getting what they want.

That was at Monza, not the last lap he drove for us, and MS and Luca never had such a close relationship, MS and Todt did so off course it looked awkward. MS had a contract offer on the table, MS also said he got offers from several other top teams, if Ferrari pushed him out then he would have went to another team and not taken up a non-driving role at Ferrari, if Luca pushed him out then no way would MS stick around, he has much more self respect than that.

The rumour he was pushed out just makes no sense and was published in one mag that was shut down as they could not afford to pay all the libel cases they lost LOL it was MS that told Todt he wanted to retire after the 3rd race of the season, Ferrari tried to make him stay hence why the decision was delayed and delayed until Monza.

F1 Racing only a few months back published a Kimi article that detailed how Schumacher was given the option of racing alongside Kimi but not as number 1, or leaving. Should we expect F1 Racing to be taken to court by Ferrari soon?

Agree'd i think Hamilton without a doubt would jump ship. He's even said that hes looking for wins and not loyalty.

Would spice things up. Vettel to Ferrari? nahhh. Alonso will get jealous again and throw his teddy out... Like he did at Mclaren.

In equal machinery, Alonso would have no problem beating Vettel, going on his current form.

I think the more interesting partnership would be the 1 year with Hamilton and Vettel in RBR.

What month? as I have years worth here and have never seen such an article. But in any case he had a contract offer even if what you say above is actually true.

You don't have any idea why Alonso was unhappy at McLaren do you? when your team is racing against you to stop you winning then maybe he has reason to think oh wait this is not ideal.

This would be my ideal team, although Vettel would have to come to Mclaren. Too many Mclaren jersys to start buying redbulls lol.
