VGA CABLE

I'm probably one of those people.

Sorry, I didn't mean to have a go. I really couldn't remember who it was anyway.

The difference for me was night and day! I would say it's pretty damn close now. I have over 100 hours on Oblivion, so I have seen all the weather and light conditions it can throw at me. I fired it up after the update and I was astounded! I was plodding along the landscape, actually saying to myself, WOW, check out that sunset. Even the HDR on rocks and things looks so much better. Casting spells looks prettier.

IT's hard to work out what's been changed. Obviously they have upped the colour, but that wouldn't fix the washed out look. I would also say less brightness and maybe more contrast.

As for why you aren't seeing a difference, I have no idea and can only think it must be the monitor/TV in question?

No offence taken :)

Dont think it is my TV as that displays colour via other VGA sources perfectly, and other folks have used the same sort of screens without a problem.

The only thing I can put it down to is the lead being poor quality or broke in some way. Would have thought it would either work or not work though, so I find it hard to believe that.

I guess it could also be possible (but unlikely) that there are different revisions of the Joytech cable.

I think I read that the gamma values had been adjusted

Well i managed to buy one from game yesterday and i have to say the difference in the picture is amazing , even just in the dashboard everything is so much sharper than the standard cable , i am able to run @ 1024 x 768 in widescreen with my 17" LCD TV , what do people on here do network wise ?? do you use a router ?? or use a diiferent method , i have a ntl cable modem and was thinking of using a windows ics connection , the posty delivered PG3 this morning :D so i had a quick bash this afternoon and it looks great well pleased , looking at some peoples gamescores on ocuk i think i have some major catching up to do :p .

In what way? I've got both and can't tell the difference on my monitor.
Mostly colour depth and washing out. I tried both cables on the same monitor alternately and the difference was very clear.

Unless you live in your room all day everyday you have no chance.

Yeah, tonnes. I came 3rd in my first 2 races online.

Will VGA brighten up my picture considerably, as personally on PGR3 I could barely see when driving through shadows etc and dread to think what Fight Night would be like?

This is partially due to the angle I view at but currently have to crank up the brightness to the max on games to make it clear

As i have said in this thread i use 17" LG LCD TV @ 1024 x 768 widescreen with the VGA and the difference is huge compared to the standard cable , without knowing your LCD spec its hard to say but i would imagine that your screen could run @ 1280 x 768 which would give a exellent picture ;) .

WotDa i wouldnt mind a blast on PG3 with you sometime .

Sure thing, I completed the offline thingy today, was kinda weird tbh, will continue to push until I got all of it done on 'hard' though. :p

I was apprently running mine @ 680, so, soon bumped that up to 1280x1024, improved the quality again.

According to my TV specs "VGA 640 x 480 Panel Resolution" :s I could swear I run higher than this when hooking my laptop up to it.
