Are any third party ones any worse than the official one?

I decided not to get the official one ann instead purchased one from ebay.

It comes with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound output, a red and white plug as well as the VGA connector.

Also, I'm using a pair of Creative I trigue 3450's, would I connect the VGA lead to the Sub?

As above really, but since your I-Trigue set won't have those inputs then you will need a phono->3.5mm jack adapter to plug into the rear as usual, or the AUX-In beside the volume control.

Since im a nice guy, ive made you a diagram: ;)

I-Trigue i3450 connectivity diagram

Please note, the red & white phono leads shown will be the ones from the VGA cable.

Wow thanks. Hmm any idea where one would get one of those adaptors? Argos perhaps?

Also I tried the VGA lead on my monitor in sig and to be honest it looks aweful even compared to a small SDTV. Is this because of the third party adaptor?

I had it set to 1280x1024 widesreen on a 1440x900 monitor and the colour/contrast/brightness were terrible.

Oh and btw, would that phono adaptor be the same as an RCA-to-stereo adapter?

After trying the official one, and running at a res of 1380x768 on widescreen on my 19" widescreen TFT (with native res of 1440x900) it still looks rather horrible, like its still running on 640x480, very blurry textures and lots of aliasing.

Whats the best res for this monitor?

I've put it on 1280x1024 and it still looks about the same, again still much better looking on the 15" SDTV.

This is what it looks like at 1280x1024:

Not sure if this is related or not but when I try to run the Top Spin 2 demo, it gives an error saying that it doesn't support PAL 50 and that I should change to PAL 60. This monitor is running at 60 Hz already.

When I'm in VGA mode, the res according to the on screen display is 1280x1024 which was set from within the dash.

In DVI mode its 1440x900 the native res of the monitor when the PC is connected.

Auto configure just re aligns the screen position.

Have you tried it on any other games? PGR3 is rendered at 500p and is known to cause problems when using a VGA cable.

I've tried it with Madden 06, NBA 2K6 and Table Tennis. For them ost part they are ok, but again at times lots of jaggies and as always compared to my 15" SDTV, the display on the TFT pales in comparison when it comes to colour and crispness.

I'll try and post another pic from another game.

Hmm, It does look a bit jaggy, perhaps ill go with the GNR TS902W, it uses the same panal as the acer AL1916WS but has speakers and a DVI input.

It's a great TFT for the price, but input from my 360 always looks really jaggy. Colours are fine most of the time.

The thing is, I'm just not sure if this is normal or not since I've read that connected to a monitor should produce good quality visuals akin to an HDTV.

surely set the res to 1280*720 on that monitor?

1440*900 cannot display a 1280*1024 image surely?

Also NBA 2K6 looks fantastic on my 2407 (sorry to rub it in :))

It looks pretty much the same on either 1280x1024 or 1280x720.

Would you mind posting a pic of 2K6 just to compare?
