Vibram FiveFingers

Before contemplating a barefoot running regime do some serious reading around, there is a lot of twaddle spoken on both sides of the argument and a distinct lack of genuine medical arguments. I'm neither for or against I can see the advantages and the disatvantages of both be sure you know what you are getting into before you commit.

Let us know how you get on with the fakes could be a good cheap way to test them out before deciding to go for the real thing or not

fakes arrived today, takes ages getting anything from china, due to customs the distance and the weather and postal service being crazy at this time of year.

i have taken pictures of them next to my originals, i have tried them on and they seem fine. the only bad thing i can say is on 1 part of the fakes the fabric looks to be cheap, but the rest of the shoe is fine (theres about 20 different parts to the shoes so just 1 piece looks cheap).

tbh when i put the pictures up in a wee while, i doubt any of you will be able to tell which one is the real one and which one is the fake.

i give the fakes a 9.5/10.

anybody considering buying originals i would say save yourself £70 an get fakes.

pictures to come, sorry im busy just now.

you shouldn't run in these unless you have an absolutely equal leg length and joint angles. otherwise you are at risk of injury

I have a collapsed bridge on my right foot which may cause problems for me later in life or as I squat heavier and i have actually been recommended running in these as it helps to strengthen the foot so it should stop me having any problems. I can see what you mean but I would have thought if someone was careful, regardless of injuries, when they used them they would most likely see the benefit of them. It might be worth trying to keep exercise light when you first start especially if you know you have previous injuries.

do it if you've been told but i've had achilles injuries and went to see a specialist about it, (private because nhs did more damage to me :/ )
ends up that i have one leg 4mm longer than the other causing me to pronate a lot and causing my achilles to shear.

I was chatting to him about these during a checkup and he wrote an extensive article on it. i'll try and dig it up for everyones benefit.

Collister, that would be great if you could dig that out, I'm quite interested to see what advice others have been given since I have similar issues :)

i dont use them for running, general walking and weight lifting.

the buyer i got my fakes from has vanished from ebay lol. so i dont know what there other buyers are like but heres my originals and fakes below.

take a guess people lol.

The vast number of people I see racing (or simply runnning for that matter) in these would suggest that, fake or not, it's all a bit of hocus pocus and pixie dust for those looking for a magic fix.

? I'm not looking for magic fix. I regularly run 10km nearly twice a week. Just wanted to see what the fuss is about. got some on eBay.

I have found the article, it was emailed to me as a PDF, how do i post it on here? is there a website i can upload pdfs to ?

Maybe google docs?

OT: Does anybody know if JohnLewis stocks these? My old Asics have given up the ghost. Would be using them to squat/deadlift and train in general in. Be nice not to have to take my shoes on/off.

Icecold:

Have you used that site?/can you vouch for it being legit?

Edit: Some googling returns that that and hundreds of other sites are fake goods. Not sure if I'm bothered though as I'll just be using them for training/no impact cardio.
