Vidar's unofficially official weight loss log.

Weekly weigh-in's are fine as long as they're done under the same conditions (e.g. first thing when you wake up after going to the loo). I quite like weighing daily then doing a weekly average when dieting but I'm a bit OCD and find seeing fluctuations and stuff interesting.

At least you're not a woman, they have far more fun with water retention than men and can endure things like a month of water retention masking any weight loss (driving them neurotic, increasing stress and creating more water retention) before they get a whoosh and it all goes.

I'm experimenting with Palmers Cocoa Butter for my little pocket of loose skin, far too early to tell if it is going to show any results, but it comes highly recommended for stretch marks and it smells like chocolate.

Walking around all day smelling like chocolate is amazing!

With regards to weighing in every week, that never worked for me, but everybody is different. Go with what you think will work best for you.

Not sure how I'd feel about smelling like chocolate all day, though it might help me pull girls lol I do have stretch marks too so it may be worth taking a look at in all seriousness

I've been doing a daily weigh-in with weekly recording. Seems to work well for me. I'm used to the fairly predictable fluctuations now.

In any typical week I'll put on 3-4lbs over the weekend and lose 4-5 during the week. At least that's the plan.

It's going well, a staff night out yesterday put me at about double my daily calorie intake for the day but I had a great time and am being a very good boy today...

My last weigh in was Wednesday where I'd dropped 2lbs (9lbs now in total) and I'm going back on Wednesday for another weigh in and hopefully I'll see another small loss.

This is where willpower comes in, buddy! Keep going! :(

Don't fall into the trap I've done previously.

"Oh I've put on a couple of pounds, so I'll not record it until I've lost them".

It's can be a slippery slope...

Thanks for the support guys, and I have been honest with what I'm logging, I don't want to cheat myself so even if I end up gaining a pound or two or my weight stays the same, I know why.

Having the will power to keep things up hasn't been a problem yet, every time I do feel even slightly tempted to have a snickers or a large bar of Galaxy or something I look at the values on the back and remind myself that if I have that I'm basically giving up my main meal for the day and will go hungry.

Good Man - have you set yourself any small goals on the way? Each time you cross off one of them itll be much easier to continue I think!

For instance my first goal is to get under 210lbs which would see me a light as I have been for most of my adult life - I should, if I continue in the same manner (average 2lbs a week), reach this goal by the end of June - which really isn't that far away!

Well that's me now at 23st 8Lbs or 150Kgs exactly according to the scales at Boots!

Seems to be a slight discrepancy though, I was pretty sure I'd only lost 1lb this week but when adding my weight on MFP it's got be down as 2lbs down.

This is my first goal sorted now, to get back to the weight I was at the start of last year... My next is to creep under 22st, then under 20st, then under 18st and then it gets a little hazy as I'm planning on going back the gym and getting much fitter in general. Adding muscle etc.

Keep going for it Blair mate I've lost 11lbs in total so far in 4 weeks now and am definitely noticing a difference, today was the first time I went out without a jacket on and my new XXL t-shirt (down from XXXL) fit me fine, no exposed belly woohoo! What's more is I noticed some rather not so bad looking girls checking me out too!

I feel goooooooood!

Keep going mate - believe me even when you do start going to the gym you're still going to be losing weight - the muscle you may add isn't gonna make that much of a difference on your weight until lower levels

Can you get in the gym at the moment? I'd recommend you get cracking on weightlifting as soon as possible - any muscle you can save while losing fat is gonna be of a benefit!

It's simply a cost thing at the moment, the registration fee plus 1st months membership is £40, it's a lot when you don't have it... Otherwise I'd be there every day doing cardio one day, weights the next.

Not that I know of.... closest one to me is Ben Dunne a chain out of Ireland, it's £13 a month after the first month with the joining fee, just can't get straight with it for stumping up that first month at the mo but will get there eventually.

How much is the joining fee? £13 a month is pretty much nothing - I know money can be tight at times but £13 quid is basically a few pints most places now... and you're not having them anymore now ;)

It's like another £27 roughly.... it's not a lot but it his when I'm only making £160 a week and getting hammered by child maintenance and bills etc.... It will just take me a little while to get it saved.
