View from the Shard

What is this shard you speak off? some of us in the rest of the world dont live in london and we dont have a clue what you are refering to.

You don't speak for me! I don't live anywhere near London and yet I know what 'The Shard' is. I suggest you spend less time trying to feign ignorance on the internet and more time trying to expand your general knowledge.

As for the original question, no I won't be paying £25 to see what the view looks like.

It does seem very expensive compared to similar experiences elsewhere in the world - it is more expensive than both the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and the Empire State Building in New York City, both of which are arguably more iconic and more sought after buildings.

It's more expensive than going to the 450m viewing level on the Tokyo Sky Tree ... which has a pretty good view ...

Agree with Fox's point on price. I paid £15 to go to the top of the Rockefeller centre last year. I don't think The Shard will be comparable, so I'll give it a miss.

I'm quite happy to pay that to go up. Not much more than the price of a single ticket for the BFI IMAX.

its the UK so of course its gonna be more expensive than other, better places.. :/

but sure, id pay to go up there once.

Can see how its pretty expensive for a family to go up.

Paying just for myself though, I will certainly do it. However, I don't think I want to be amongst the first to do it, as no doubt it will be super busy to begin with. Hopefully it will be at a stage where you can just turn up and buy a ticket, as the last thing you want is to go up there when the weather is complete pants.

I had Dinner at the top of Centrepoint last year and the view from there was incredible so I can only begin to imagine how amazing it will be from The Shard.

Ill probably do it when I'm back in London. I've been to the bar/restaurant at the top of centre point and the view there is pretty amazing.

lol, god forbid someone asks what the shard is within a thread about the shard :d

Some people are so far up their own backsides :D

I've never heard of it either, Glad it was clarified within the thread though. Saved me having to ask and getting beaten up by the local OMGZGROUP

In answer to the question, Yeah I'd pay it. It doesnt hurt to have a look

i saw this the other day while in london. Couldnt see the top of it as it disappeared in the fog. Looks impressive and reminded me of the tower in Half Life 2.

Wish i took a picture of it now.

Don't see the point, I did pay to go up the Empire state(or I should say I think I did, I can't actually remember paying), but for me, considering more recent history in New York and seeing it without the twin towers, and frankly because I've watched so much US Tv that is based in New York that there is a lot to see, lots of interesting buildings.

For me London is a bit, boring by comparison, but then I've lived here all my life while I've been to New York once, I was more interested in taking New York in quickly as I was only there for a weekend, while I've seen most of London many times before. Even despite that, not worth £25.

First I had heard of it too! Quite surprised it wasn't advertised more.

The Eye was a touch boring, so I presume this may be the same, but without the very slow moving part, which takes the thrill out of it (Not much of a thrill I must admit!)
