Views on staying in your job

Im hoping to stick in this job and make at least a couple of years out of it, it just makes you wonder when you see friends who are on say a grad scheme getting to try out 3 or 4 different roles.

maybe push for a change of role within your company when you start getting itchy feet, doesn't look bad on the cv and you still get the change

My dad worked in the same firm for 41 years! Granted he did progress from being an office junior to a systems analyst over the years, but still I doubt many firms will last long enough nowadays to let an employee stay so long.

I've been in the same job for 6 years come october 09.
