Bought this just in case :cry: Is that a bargain? Absolutely, does it work? No it doesn't. Screen fault normally means "wont turn on"... but at least somebody hasnt already had at it... if its really bad we might have to....

I like to keep you on your toes :D I put a new port and a new m92t36 pmic on it. That was really all it needed took about 15 mins for a board repair :) I tell you what I do have another lite coming in for repair... Ill do some proper pics of that repair :)

port was 70p (i used a og switch port and ground it down with my dremel as the lite port is like £8), the IC I stole off of a donor. Total repair cost was like 70p if I don't count donor parts. Oh yea and two new joycons which are like a pound or so each.

Been a while since I posted a game gear install... The screens I normally use are constantly going up in price so I fitted up a cheaper alix alternative:



For the recap I now have my own cap kits I use which are a selection of MLCC's that are closer to spec than most other kits, its still not a perfect like for like on the original tolerances but is far better than what a lot are selling in terms of mlcc kits :)





I also have a commission build to do using one of my spare boards, my normal xilinx fpga based mod board and a selection of parts selected by the person I am building for. This one will be a nice one! As we know commission builds get extra love so we will be swapping out the power led and possibly doing a few more mods to it down the line :)

I cant find them anywhere and its impossible to find one in nice condition, they are all totally shot. I picked up 3 and all were battered. Nice Phat DS's are impossible to find... It used to be that you could grab a shell. Not any more :(

I dont even mind paying over the odds for one at this point.

Anyone know where to get DualShock 3s in decent condition these days? My mate bought a PS3 slim for £20 yesterday but the controller it came with is in a state.

Ok really quick and dirty this is how it works.. The Game Gear original screen is split into 3 separate vertical screen sections and one horizontal section, the game gear in stock form you can think of as if there are 3 seperate screens each with a driver chip that takes screen data info and displays it on the part of the screen that the driver chip is responsible for. The fpga takes those signals and transforms them into a single signal which a normal modern LCD understands. you effectively feed 3 separate signals into it and one signal comes out the other end. As you can imagine it's all very much about timing each screen section etc needs to be working in harmony for a single picture to display :)

On top of that core functionality it also provides additional features like scan lines, colour pallet swaps, resolution scaling options as well as other tools. Good FPGA's like the xilinx can also deal effectively with GG SMS presentation (20 or so games in its library are GG SMS presented) and other core GG functionality

If you wait 2 weeks I should be coming into one of my huge hauls :) We never know what we might get... think my PS2 haul only bigger :D For reference my PS2 haul had boxed sealed ps2 and 3 controllers ;) - Admittedly the ps2 one sold instantly for an insane £135 but aye if I get some nice ones I can crack you a deal... I feel bad as I sold loads of really mint ones recently for way too cheap :(

And ive just checked the toy auction I go to once a quarter (in person auction house) have extended to a two day auction fest this month... super excited!!!

There is a mint in box silver PHAT DS at the coming auction :cool: - I shall try and buy it!

Also do I go in for a boxed commodore VIC20 and boxed Speccy 128+3.... ohh man this upcoming event is going to be really expensive! This morning I have put commission bids on 14 lots and booked the days off of work :D - Good times! Just got to keep my eye on the catalogue for new additions these next two weeks...

Sounds exciting, and certainly somewhere I should avoid :p


My PS3 Super Slim arrived today, in great condition, but a little disappointing. Can't believe how cheap it deals, horrid design.

I never give any details to anybody - Have had so many people ask but it would be silly of me to reveal like the only place I pick up some amazing deals. :(
