That must take bloody ages!!

It did the first time lol.

But once I worked out a way that worked the second time didn't take too long at all.

Would 100% need to do it a different way if I was fixing controllers all the time, but I just fix my own stuff.

The reason I wouldn't normally do it this way is risk of board damage beyond anything else, time is clearly secondary... Hot air makes it an absolute breeze

Yeah definitely, that was my biggest worry when doing it and why I mentioned it twice, it really is one slip away from breaking something.

I do have a hot air station in my wish list, but I need to sort my shed out with a workbench.

I enjoy tinkering but no where near the stuff you are fixing lol.

I used to own a Amiga 500 as a kid so I've always fancied having a go at repairing one of those.

You should get a 500 man... A fixer upper!!! Good consoles to fix as there are plenty of detailed schematics etc available.
