Vindaloo

Other then a thriving social life, opportunities for a career at work, and a decent base of friends which doesn't include me sitting on my left hand for half an hour and pretending like we've never met before...

....I'm not sure what you mean?

Curry is good. Don't take offence as it was not intended, though clearly I have struck a nerve. Or something.

You must have a weak tongue to find a Vindaloo so hot that your face is about to fall off!

a proper vindaloo aint sposed to be burn your face off hot, its a very misunderstood curry imo.

a properly cooked one should be not much hotter than a madras but more garlic/ginger based.

its one of my favs and madras/kahari :D

Dont eat it with rice. A spoon and a plain or coriander naan bread is the ticket. Makes all curries taste superb.

You can do two mains this way if you're hungry and not get too full.

I had a King prawn phaal in Newcastle town centre a while back and it was one of the hottest I have ever tasted.

Try something that is spicy, but not necessarily hot. Like a Korai/Karahi/However the restaurant chooses to spell it, especially if you're a fan of tomatoes and peppers. Maybe try Dupiaza/Dopiaza if you're an onion lover.

Love a Lamb Korai :) It's like a tastier Jalfrezi!

I like hot food, but would much prefer something tasty.

Does anyone know the scoville rating of a vindaloo and phaal?

Actually, it looks like a Phaal can go upto 1.2million. JESUS

http://mumbaiboss.com/2012/05/11/the-phaal-guys/

I had a finger tip amount of mad dog 357 hot sauce and it felt like I almost stopped breathing. God help someone eating a whole PLATE of 1.2million scoville curry

Tried a phaal once, out a jar from asda (pataks). managed about 6 fork fulls before I felt anything (takes a while to hit).

Had to get up.

Walked to the couch and felt dizzy! I normally make curries from scratch and eat a vindaloo quite regular.

Not for the faint hearted!

On another not if anyone wants to try making them like the takeaway check this guys pdf! Genius! http://www.curry2go-online.com/index.html
