*****Virgin Australia Supercars Championship 2018*****

Been a good start to the season so far and there are a lot better tracks to come too! Hope it ends up being another close run thing like last season.
I would like to see the Fords and, especially, the Nissans close the gap a bit, the Holdens seem stronger at the moment.

Good second weekend. Close and varied winners should hopefully see a close season. Expect to see more homologated panels for Nissan and Ford next time around to even things out. Shame the rain didn't come but earlier in race 5/sc had to come out. Could have made it a bit more interesting

So pleased to have found this forum and thread thought I was the only Supercars Fanatic out there Never miss qualifying or a race best motor sport on the planet Intersting one for comment Ash Sutton testing a v8 could we have him racing as a endurance driver or next year ?

Welcome aboard! :)

I saw he was doing some testing and I just had a quick look and the BTCC season ends Sept 30th a whole week before Bathurst. Given enough practice through the summer he could be a wildcard entry? Could be fun! :)

Can’t see him travelling all that way for the fun off it also teaming up again with Carl Faux who left BMR to work in the Supercars if he does race at Bathurst I will see him as I’m going to Bathurst this year.

Enduros start on the 16th Sept at Sandown so it'll be before the BTCC season ends. Do they allow wildcard entries for Bathurst alone? I'm not sure if anyone can or would want to team up with him for only one race.

I'm honestly not quite sure how the wildcard entries work - I'll need to look into it more :)

I'm sure I've seen a Bathurst race with a team running 3 drivers though. I'll do some digging.

I did read somewhere that he had completed the requirement to allow him to race as a endurance entry that’s what prompted me to raise the point. As for his ability he was the stand out rookie driver in BTCC 2016 winning the Jack Shears Trophy and then surpassed that by becoming the BTCC champion 2017 that’s special he is a very talented driver. With his connection to Carl Faux I can see him competing in this series for sure. Back to tomorrow race day can’t wait.

I was asking if he could physically make it to the enduro races with his BTCC commitments and if not, do they allow single entries into the Bathurst race? I'd love to see a Brit racing in the series.

I hope Reynolds and Erebus can keep the momentum going, I'm a big Reynolds fan and am loving seeing him up front.

Round 3: Symmons Plains Raceway (Races 7 & 8)

After some exciting and slippery action at Melbourne (giving points for the first time as well) we head back to the more normal tracks that we see the Supercars on - tight, twisty and narrow!

qZT4It5.jpg

Length: 1.50 miles
Direction: Anti-Clockwise
Lap Record: Craig Lowndes - 51.4370s (2017)
Event Format: Supersprint

Race 1: 50 laps, 120km
Race 2: 84 laps, 200km

This weekend also see's a new qualifying format due to the short track getting congested. You can take a quick read up of it >>here<<

Pretty much F1 style elimination qualifying with the top 10 times from the practice sessions getting a bye to qualifying round 2! :)

Hopefully get a better track map up once the stream is on tomorrow! :)

Certainly agree with the physical element as for seeing some British involvement that would be awesome. Back to the racing I don’t particulaly have a favourite but I certainly admire good competitive skilled racing craft ie Round Three from Melbourne the way those guys stuck it out on slicks in the wet showed superb driving ability good luck to them all

Supercars again didn’t fail to supply a weekend of the best racing on the planet, who wasn’t cheering on the superb Craig Lowndes, good to see Lebroque up there, as for JW gaining back his orange number one don’t be surprised if it stays on his car for quite a while. SVG gone from hero to zero certain he will be back. Well done to Scotty Mac too in fact well done to them all thanks for a fantastic weekend of racing

So many of the cars seemed to have performance issues this weekend. Good to see Lowndes back on the top step too. I don't think I've ever seen the overcut work like it did for Whincup in race 1, he was well clear after his stop.

I really love these short, tight tracks vs the big F1 circuits like Melbourne. The pack stays compact and there's plenty of argy-bargy :)

All up to date now, simmons plain is great with the varying tyres, but could do with being a tiny bit wider, some overtakes are crafted over 2 laps which I love!

Next even this weekend! Really enjoying superview, generally go straight to the race though. Probably only watch qualifying for the enduros.

Indeed it is! The render looks badass! :D

Anyhoo - Phillip Island this weekend and as I write this Race 9 of the championship is in the bag! Here's a track map for you:

Sector breakdowns but no track data yet as they didn't do any on the qualifying broadcast I'm watching now :)
