Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Virgins last bid to keep me on board was £29 for the big bundle again, despite me telling them i don't want the bundle, i just want the fibre line. Couldn't offer me anything decent, still think VM is absolute joke and the past 5 years with them has pretty much confirmed that.

To top it all off, Virgin has been having dropouts and a lot of downtime in my area for whatever reason.

Lets hope they arn't allowed to buy City Fibre then!

uurgh, on the merry-go-round now, deal from the first guy was just bad, £4.50 off my £9 increase, second guy, we'll cancel your increase for the remaining contract quoting me that I can only get 50Mb from other suppliers in my area. I currently have 500Mb, TV and phone for £47 a month, I have never plugged the phone in and not sure I have ever turned the TV box on so asked about 500Mb only.... £48, a pound more than I pay for everything, so I did the next step and cancelled.
For those who cancelled was it a case of just waiting for a call back, or did you have to chase ?

I've had both scenarios.

This time, BT is a high speed alternative, so if I don't get a better deal, then I'm off.

Lots of connection issues too with Virgin recent, total loss tonight and down atm.

Need to get a 4G SIM for second WAN for failover for some devices.

I’d like to give them notice now of intention to leave so I can line everything up in good time. End date is June ish.

Going back to Vodafone DSL, yes slower, but best of alternative.

Fareham getting toob internet, but my area. Between Southampton and Fareham, not on planned upgrade work for providers.

So Virgin or Virgin.

City Fibre purchase?

Ditto. They were due a total meltdown at some point as it’s been a while lol

My nephew will be on WhatsApp later saying his Xbox does work. Err yeah. Since their father was sadly killed last year, internet my responsibility now, which is fine.

Vodafone DSL in June, defo going back to a 70/20 connection as more reliable. Just hope more providers aren’t locking you in to their routers. I still have my Draytek modem for DSL connections

There's huge VM issues nationwide this morning. Appears to be some kind of BGP issue making their own DNS servers inaccessible. You may have slightly better luck if you've got some alternate DNS servers set on your network settings, but only "may have".

Already on different DNS servers, Quad9, but still no connectivity.

Wasn’t it BGP issues last time they had a major outage?

Virgin Media website dead too. Think I read it was all services inc mobile connections

Loving some of the comments on the other social media sites. “How dare you” “I’m loosing ££££ of pounds”

If your connectivity is that critical, dual WAN connectivity

Looks like they may have taken O2 out with them too :p feel sorry for those who would have relied on their O2 mobile data to get over the VM internet outage!

True, if you rely on your internet connection for work then VM would be pretty much bottom of the list if you don't have a second connection.

It does appear to be back up again so hopefully that's the end of it.
