Virgin Media Discussion Thread

cheers gareth.

i'll leave the speeds to settle over the next 24hrs. hitting 198mb straight off but now only hitting 120mb. upload is fine though

this via ethernet too

looks like your in a high utilization area hence why the speed is dropping... if you haven't done so, let VM know then you should get a discount once they've raised a ticket.

will they be able to sort it out or will it just be a credit situation?!

Credit once a month, but they'll keep giving you fix dates and just push them back over and over. Happened on two fix dates for me.

I'm now in the process of leaving after only being with them 2 months as it's getting unusable in a evening.

Giving VM a call is on my to-do list for next week, although I'm not looking forward to it much. More the possible time wasting/being on hold than anything else.

First I need to find out if I'm still in contract or how much longer there is to run on it. Then I want to try and get a better deal, already on 152Mb so I'm not interested in a speed increase, I just want to reduce what I'm actually paying.

I won't leave. Been with them for 10 years and never had performance issues. I'm treating this as a glitch for a new service.

This morning I was hitting 168mb via wifi. Which I feel was very good.

And my ps4 was recording speeds of 120mb so I know the speeds are sufficient.

what speed do you get on wired from your pc in the morning??

i wouldn't base speed tests using wifi.

also could you post your power levels from the hub.

Speed tests in a morning are pretty much useless, they only start the capping around 6pm.

I can get 215mbps between 1am and 6pm then it grinds to a halt with the current speeds being between 5 and 20mbps.

it's not useless to speed test in the morning because if he don't see the full speed in the morning then most likely there's another issue, thats the reason why i asked him.

when i had an high utilization issue the speed started dropping around 2pm till 1 or 2am

Goodbye VM.

Got a letter this morning.. they raised fees by £3~ like less than 6 months ago.

Now new letter says it's going up by £3.50 again so my bill has gone from £38 starting to near £46.

Just scouting for other deals atm from other providers.

for what package?

ours was going upto £46.98 for 100mb and M Phone.

now paying £45.99 for 200mb gamer package and M Phone

We're on L Broadband with M TV.

Just checked contract actually.. started on 32.99, up to 38.99 after promotion. Currently ~£42 I believe and now will be £45.50.
