Virgin Media Upload Speed Upgrades

noticed mine had been upgraded last night.

only getting around 4mb upload but it's better than the 1.67mb i was getting before.

will restart the modem later to see if that helps

I have been with them since the Cable Corportation in 1995. Virgin is the best ISP I have ever had and I've tried most of them. When the 50MB rolled out I got a one of download of over 300MB and regular peaks of over 150MB. The 50MB services always gives you that and I have been beta testing the 100MB for a while now (at home). Virgin will continue to get my money because I think their customer service is excellent. 5MB up means that at last, I can run my own game server, albeit 8 players but that will do for my mates.

Jesus.... I just looked at the schedule and thought "August-11" meant August 11th ... didn't realise it meant August 2011.... ffffffffffffffffffffff

Might as well just put it out of my mind :(

I want 400mb broadband. :(

dudley is my nearest town so i assume that's the info i should be looking at?

says Jan '11 but mine has increased to just under 4mb. so hopefully it'll sort itself out and move closer to 5mb by the end of Jan '11.

also is there any news on the 100mb broadband?

I could register my interest 2 months ago but now my virgin account says i have the fastest broadband available with 50mb. Do they have a similar shedule to this one as to which regions will be upgraded first etc

If that is your headend then yes.
Most people have gotten their upgrades around a month before the schedule says so.
100Mbit has not even been launched yet although seeing as your area has the faster upload which is a pre requisite of putting 100Mbit in an area I wouldn't expect you will have to wait long.

Talking of speed boosts I gave myself a 5x boost today and I'm already on 50mbit!

Wanna know how?

I removed the 10mbit/sec QoS which had been baffling me for a few weeks but never had time to look into :o

Thought I'd double-check the router config before calling Virgin...

So that's only, er, 4 months that I've been wasting money on 50mbit! To be fair I only actually wanted it for the upload speed which was non-QoS'd and it worked well in that each user got 10mbit - I did wonder why my brother's downloads weren't affecting my connection....

Haha, that's funny. It was similar to me - when I got 50MB, my QoS settings were limiting me to 20. But the guy who brought the router was round so he made me work out why my computer wasn't allowing the full speed.

Showing August 2011 for Kings Norton, Birmingham UBR, shame really :(

Definitely going to drop to 20Mb if they are doing free 30Mb upgrades until they increase the upload here. :)

I used to host an 8 player cod server with a 256k connection, 5mb would be plenty for a good server.
