Virginity

Interesting posts so far!

Are you all in agreement that its a backward notion or at least a Romantic notion, and that no real value should be attached?
Yup. Sex is sex.

Making love is, granted, different. But thats not whats being discussed here. Virginity is not, for me, an appealing attribute.

TBH when you get into a relationship with someone where you can honestly say that you don't just have sex - occasionally, sure, but most of it becomes love-making - the warmth and connection is so awesome that any misconceptions about who's been with who and how many times before just go out the window.

I'm guessing men feeling a little self-conscious about their sexual prowess may prefer a virgin who knows no better. I also have to admit that having a boyfriend where I've been his 'first' is a little daunting BUT only because I worry if he'll think he's missed out on 'playing the field' and as he's got no basis for comparison with me, might some day think that the grass is greener elsewhere.

However, he's been a quick learner and improviser (and how!!) so I have no qualms at all about how much experience he should have had before me :D

He doesn't seem to give two hoots about what I'd previously been up to :)

To me,I dont care if the girl is a virgin or not,its all about having a good time.

If i found out she was a virgin,i would'nt change my mind about going all the way with her,But would ask if she was ok with it:)

Ok, I see that this is getting derailed somewhat so I'll pose another thought to you all:

I'm sure you've all read the thread about the girl selling her virginity for 2.6 million.
Why did none of you find her age strange?
Is it not strange in this day and age to be a virgin much after the age of say 18? Do you perceive it as weird that someone would 'wait' or indeed would you wonder how they could have actually made it refusing or ignoring all that sex?

Why is it strange? Some people are like that. I waited until I was 21 and was with somebody I really, really liked before I did it. Whats wrong with that? It might not be the norm but it's hardly weird.

Not really, didn't lose mine until I was 23. At the time I was very concious of the fact that I was a late starter, looking back at it I couldn't give two hoots. When you're ready you're ready.

I wasn't holding out as such, just very very shy

Yeah but you're an old man trapped in a twenty-something's body.

I was in a relationship with a girl who had never had sex before and it was awful, boring and just not interesting. If I'm honest I'd rather not know of a girl's past but as long as we can have some fun under the sheets then it's all good.

As for my views on virginity, it doesn't affect me either way that person may or may not be a virgin. I think that sex is very much part of modern lifestyle now and whilst it shouldn't be a given, it's an important part of the interaction between 2 consenting adults.
