VirginMedia (FREE) Freedom NetBook

My red Netbook arrived this morning (even though I was told it would be delivered on the 31st July).

I paid £50 as I'm already on the XL TV & Phone and the XXL broadband. The Netbook is very nice, runs quite smooth and looks good in red. It also came with nifty Virgin Media/Intel pouch, which was an added bonus.

Overall I'm extremely pleased - £50 for a Netbook is a great deal and I don't mind being with VM for another 24 months as I've already been with them for over 7 years.

I've just ordered a 2gig stick of ram for when I put Win7 in. :)

I too had mine early. Apparently they have sold out of the red ones now!

Ordered my Win 7 at the cheap price. Looking forward to sticking it on my netbook.

Can you advise what memory you ordered? Do you know that max it will take??

I have had a look at the 1gb module installed and assume it is a standard laptop ram that goes in??

I ordered 2GB Kingston KVR667D2S5/2G ValueRAM Laptop Memory. I don't know the max ram you can install as I don't know if you can get a 4GB stick of Laptop ram.

I've pre-ordered my Win 7 Home Premium but will stick the RTM version in once my ram arrives.

I had the beta but that expired.
 
at a guess..e bay.

People are probably ordering them and selling them straight away. especially those that get one for free (such as the VIP package)

I've been checking that site for a few days but not seen any virgin netbook on there. I guess they more likely take the auctions down quickly, like they do with the V+ boxes.
 
Well surprise surprise my netbook didnt arrive yesterday after being told it would by the member of the sales team who dealt with me on monday. I rang up yesterday morning to confirm delivery and i was told " yes its getting delivered today" - by 6pm still no netbook. I rang again at 7.30pmand explain my problem to be transfered to the "correct dept." only to remain on hold for 35mins until i hung up as sick of waiting.

I rang this moring at 8am and explained the problem to be told " i will email the sales team and they will call you back today" and when i asked why he couldnt just call them he said " you can not ring them direct and there is no number that i can give you".

12.30 comes and still no call back so i call them and once again explain what has happend and to my suprise i am told that yes you can call the sales team and she gave me the number to ring................

I ring the number and once again explain the problem to be told "sorry sir but you shouldnt have been told it would be delivered next day as you have to wait at least 7days for it to be delivered"

I have now wasted a day and a half waiting for something that was never going to be delived and at least 2hrs on the phone to virgin. NOT HAPPY !

I ordered mine on the Thursday and it arrived on the following Saturday. They told me it would be 7 working days so was about right
 
After being told i could not have one unless i payed £15.00 a month i decided to try again today and got mine for £50.00 also. Only had the black ones in stock but heyho a £50 netbook can not be bad.

What do you mean when you say you got it for £50 ? Do you mean that for paying £50 your not tied into a 24month contract ?

I didnt pay anything and ive got the 3gb dongle for free.

Can the people who got the netbook for £50 clarify what broadband/tv/phone they're on, and whether they took out mobile internet? Virgins deals and bundles vary wildly in price for the same service should you take out another one of their services, and the prices to returning customers on the website are a joke.
 
I am on xl tv and phone and xxl broadband. They tried to charge me £15.00 a month for the dongle. I told them i was not interested then. She went away and came back and agreed to charge me £50.00 for the netbook without the dongle but i still had to pay £14.99 postage and sign up for the 24 months. So i suppose it was £64.99 not £50.00 but still a good deal.

Teulk how did you get it for free with a free dongle. I tried my best to get the p&p knocked off let alone getting it for free.

sounds just like vm but dont take it out on the guys who give out wrong info....they really dont get trained for the job
 
I am currently installing Vista on mine.
I only have 1gb of RAM but 2gb is in the post. I will let everyone know how it works.

I have just tried to blag the next level broadband from Virgin but they wanted more money so I said leave it then.

Then they said they will see what they can do with my currect package and they got it down by another £6 a month :)

So, now it means I got the Netbook for free, delivery for free and 1gb Mobile broadband dongle all for an extra £8.99 a month.

Can 't be bad :D

Like they say, if you don't ask you don't get :D
