visa electron + visa debit

My Visa Debit expires at the end of this month and I have not received a replacement yet.

They better ****ing send me one, especially due to the fact that I went in to the branch to make sure something weird wasn't going on.

I have an electron. I've had a few online places not accept it. Only a few in like 5 years though.

With my last two visa debits, they sent the replacement pretty much on the last day, or a day earlier. It's punctual at least.

The only place i couldn't use my Electron card was on the O2 site with the iPhone, due to something about credit checks. I think it was because under 18's could get the Electron card or something.

Halifax always told me the electron they do is usually for the cardcash (16-18) account which I still have at 21 due to being lazy. Need to go get a normal account soon...

electron and solo -> teenagers and adults who can't be trusted with finance

maestro & visa debt -> everyone else.

I have a Visa Electron (I'm 17) and I've found I can use it in the majority of shops and online sites.

Why is it, all the ones I know with Maestros and Visa Debits tend to have the worse financial stability then? Generalizing really doesn't help, nor does it work, especially with something so complex and multi-faceted as cards, money, finance in general. Either you have control of your buying impulses - or you don't.

I don't 'need' an overdraft either - nor did I ask for one - I've got a fairly standard current account at a normal high street bank and they gave me the facility automatically - presumably because I pay my bills/debts on time and have a regular income.

Out of the subset of adults who have solo/electron cards there is a fairly large portion who are given them for a very good reason. The audience of you're average Jeremy Kyle show would mostly fit into this sub set.

not often to ones under 18 though - you tend to get electron/solo to start then get a maestro/visa once you're an adult as the can't easily chase under 18s who default.

Well most definitions of social class centre around your job/income so I think you'll find the highest portion of non teenage users of electron/solo are generally bottom feeders.
