uhhh you sure?
Not where I work anyway...
He may be meaning as a way to prove Identity for a contract, ie a mobile phone contract. It has to be a maestro in those cases. That system doesn't work with electrons.
uhhh you sure?
Not where I work anyway...
Perhaps it's changed recently then?. As I used to have one and it was the biggest waste of time ever. as no one accepted it. You could sometimes get away with it on;line, by just saying it's a visa.
Complete carp, after 5 years of using an Electron ive still yet to find a store or online store that doesnt accept it.
same here
for starters im pretty damn sure ocuk didnt accept them when i had mine
Social BACKROUND. Not social standing. Answer it correctly, don't dodge the question. In fact, answer my others ones too then smart ass.
What the hell is a bottom feeder? Do your arguments often descend into this?
Don't sit here and type drivel then make out like your trying to bait or flame, many before you have tried that silly exit and failed.
clam down dear....
Perhaps you'd like to give me an unambigous definition of what you perceive to be "social standing" then if you're going to get anal over semantics.
I have worked temporarily in retail banking (whilst a student) and to put it bluntly most of the people the bank required to have electron cards would generally be considered 'chavs'.
This isn't a massively inaccurate generalisation despite the fact that there undoubtedly are exceptions out there- think of it like this a bank requiring an adult has one of these cards as opposed to a proper visa debit isn't too far off an electricity company requiring a customer has a pre payment meter installed - there are certain people who are rubbish with finance and most of them fit the same stereotype.

Don't tell me to calm down you little trollop. One minute your flaming, the next your not? Pick a side.

I have worked in banks also. Your point is still moot.
Cause you still ain't making one as far as I can see.
This 'chav' thing you say is your take on it, not the banks.
So all people with prepayment meters are automatically poverty class now too are they?
I had one for years (inherrited it with the property) before I could be bothered to get it removed, does that make me pennyless poverty struck debt riddled man with a dunted credit rating?
No. I was just lazy.
Get a grip.![]()
toff drivel

Your quite the pendant aren't you? I'll play semantics all night long if you want.
Your wrong as I fail to see how you could determine someone’s social standing, or financial, merely by the way they look in 100% of cases as you claim.
It wasn't banter or you wouldn't have said it matter of factly.
Electrons are not only for teenagers, as under 18's can have overdrafts. The cards are for those who do not require an account with overdraft facilities, as well as those with poor credit. That is what you fail to see.
Have you ever worked in the energy industry? If not, where has this wonderful insight come from?
My partner has for years and has worked in metering, and a large proportion of people that have those meters are due to inheriting them or there being a requirement for that type of meter in conjunction with other devices, such as some specific electric radiators (night storage heaters) or economy 7 water boilers that can only be fully utilized night and day with a prepayment meter and radio teleswitch. Of course they are also used for bad creditors who cannot get a credit meter, and those with debt to the energy supplier. A lot of elderly people prefer to have pay as you go, as it suites with their finances better (weekly income as opposed to monthly). According to my partner they make up a large bulk of users. However the balance you are talking about just isn’t there.
What is Netto?
"IMO there is significant overlap between the following subsets: Netto shoppers, the Jeremy Kyle audience, electron card users and people with pre payment meters. Yes a high portion are probably fat, lazy and unemployed." rofl.
I see you have a balanced view on society then.
ps: I may go to bed and resume in the morning.

Halifax Cardcash customers only have a basic bank account, and tend to be young, on a low income or with a poor credit history.
The bank has decided to migrate them to a new payment card called Visa Electron, but the card is not as widely accepted as the Solo card it is replacing.
Plain and simple, you have a card which is attached to your bank account which verifies each purchase before allowing it, preventing you from overdrafting. It’s great for people with low income and especially for children.
doesn't look like it tbh....electron and solo -> teenagers and adults who can't be trusted with finance
often the electron card has only printed numbers not embossed.
Can be a problem if some places use manual machines as they can't get an impression![]()
)I made a blunt/crude generalisation about electron/solo users - someone immediately took offensenot sure why the discussion about electron turned into a class debate,
especially involving the audience of jeremy kyle who are mostly students, they're not exactly the same subset of culture as the people appearing on it.
The audience do appear on it and 'the bar out of starwars' would be an apt description. Seriously its like they bus in half a council estate to come and watch the show.
Why do people use debit cards anyway? What is the point? Using a credit card you are totally protected, have complete control over what items you pay on the bill by taking issue before payment of the statement, and often benefit from cashbeack features or other goodies.
Cant fathom why anyone would use a debit card :/
lack of control/fath in your own responsibility
I've never had a credit card because while I wouldnt go stupid and spend stupid amounts I am likely to miss a payment through forgetfulness etc
