What, not gonna check out other prices first? :p

Maybe, but i need a new agp graphics card to run aero as im on a basic Radeon 9200 at the mo after my 9800 Pro died so I might get both from ocuk :)

great prices, any reason NOT to buy an OEM, will it still work if I upgrade my Mobo for example ?

oh, 32bit or 64bit ? i have an athlon 64 chip but last I heard was that drivers and program support for 64but wasnt that great

Very nice prices - will no doubt be ordering the Premium Vista 32bit from here in the not too distant future :)

I thought the 32bit and 64bit versions came on the same DVD and your product/activation code enables the version you have purchased?

Fantastic stuff and good prices too Gibbo

Home Premium OEM - £78
Vista Ultimate OEM - £135

So broadly speaking (if you compare XP MCE to Home Premium which is roughly the equiv new SKU) the same price as XP.

One in the eye for the moaning anti MS zealots/pirates who did nothing but post whinging about Vista was going to cost them £250+

Some humble pie to be eaten there, you know who you are.... :)

Nice, Vista HP for £78.71, compared to XP MCE for £77.54 and XP Home for £58.74.

So who remember's the threads full of people crying and complaining how overpriced it was even after being told they were comparing XP OEM prices to Vista Retail prices....

Yeah, it would be good if someone could remind us exactly what the limitations are for the OEM versions - how much upgrading is allowed? When does one have to phone up rather than activate online? Gibbo, do you have the details on this?

Should be OK in real terms although be aware MS have tightened up the EULA. OEM is cheaper than retail because it's in theory limited to one PC (and so in theory if you upgrade too much of the machine including the motherboard it would be reasonable to say it's no longer the same PC you initialy installed on). of course this doesn't apply to warranty claims because a part of the PC has failed.

If you think you may need to take Vista with you between PCs and be OK for upgrades go for one of the upgrade SKUs to full retail product. A bit more expensive but no problems with using it on future machines.

Having said all that MS have rarely, if ever denied a re activation after upgrading a M/B etc. You just need to make an informed choice.

It still is if people want retail versions (which people who upgrade their systems regularly will do) as Home Premium is about £220 and Ultimate £370.

Will OcUK be listing any retail products today?

HI there

Nope we don't do the upgrade or retail versions. They basically never sell as they cost over twice as much.

Thanks for that, I'm not sure an OEM version will suit me due to the amount of hardware I get through !

If the OEM copy rejects your hardware changes just phone up the 0800 number and get through to a human operator. They barely ask any questions and in 2 minutes you'll be up and running again.

The prices are very slightly cheaper than I was expecting. I was thinking £145 for Ultimate but I'm glad to have been proven wrong :)

If they did that they would buy upgrade versions at ~£149 for Home Premium Upgrade or, Ultimate upgrade at ~£249.

Can't see why anyone would want to buy a fresh retail version from scratch, you either have a PC with an OS so you upgrade, or if you have no OS at all buy the OEM and an upgrade version in a couple of years time if you needed to.

To be honest I can't imagine why anyone would want to buy Ultimate Retail anyway - pretty much everything you'd want for a home/entusiast PC is in Home Premium (or Business for the appropriate features if that's your need)
