Vista RC2 Released

Mine's never crashed when I've been using it but for some reason when I leave it and come back (I've usually turned the monitor off) it'll have restarted eight times out of ten

I'm yet to have it crash, but have found it not snappy enough

Agreed that it is not snappy enough. It's far from it, flicking between programs using either Alt+Tab or Winkey+Tab, scrolling on web pages...just feels very far from being optimised. I'm running on a v. good processor, 1gb ram and nvidia quadro card.
Vista itself has not crashed and feels solid that way. But some of the programs I have run on it crash when using, for example, the standard File-Open dialog box; it just crashes the program and I cannot find a way to resolve it except to restart Windows. Hopefully compatibilities will be further improved by its release but I don't know.

Sounds more like driver issues to be honest.

I'm running it on a fairly mediocre Centrino Laptop with a Radeon X600. Feels just a quick as XP and very rarely does anything crash.

I actually had that in the back of my mind too. Thing is, I can't do anything about it - I tried getting the Vista drivers off the nVidia site for my Quadro card, then when it's about to install the drivers it complains that the operating system isn't supported  Nice waste of bandwidth there.

I'm prob going to head to the trial version of XP x64 and see how the system performs with that. I don't mind Vista, but it's too god damn slow.

Intel 805D CPU
2GB RAM
36GB WD Raptor
Gigabyte DS3 motherboard
ATi X300 GFx card - think this is where the problem is, but I don't really play games anymore so am loathed to spend ££££s on a gfx card.

Plus I need to get my stable AD virtual environment up again, winter's coming so time for studying again. Need to get my 70-291 :(

I have to boot my PC first, once loaded then switch on my router, only then will it pick up the connection.

for some reason if my router is on and working fine and i load my PC it just doesnt pick up the damned connection. strange and anoying

I've had RC2 "lose" my network connection a few times, a reboot fixes it but I'm not sure what causes it. I've 2 onboard NIC's so I might switch to the other to see if the problem goes away.

Never had any connections probs with my wireless router or wireless AP..

5808 is that the MSDN version?

It's the TAP release - a technology adoption program. Very unlikely to be leaked in any way, shape or form.

had vista installed on my laptop for a few days and all seems fine, some nice touches in it too i love the little gadgits on the side bar. Was just wondering if anyone knows of a cpu temperature program that will work in vista tried notebook hardware control & speedfan but both didnt work
