I've only got about 2.1 and I know that's down to the gfx card. Mmm looks like I'll be changing that then. Need to get the latest BIOS on my DS3 and get my 805D overclocked again, failing that sell it and get a conroe etc.

Need to look at other AV as well as I'm not that impressed with Avlast

Running RC2 x64

Need to get my Dell x51V syncing with it so I can install software on to it. Failing that I'll just have it sync'd with another machine

I've got 4.2 - not sure what the problem is - the graphics card isn't that old :(

I've only got a £30 x300 ATi. Something had to give more when I purchased the new parts

Need to confirm Virtual PC / server works with Vista.

Ive just installed Vista RC2 on a partition, but when i choose to load Vista when prompted it gives me an error:

\windows\system32\winload.exe

could not be loaded because it is missing or corrupt.

I looked on my V: drive (the partition on which Vista is installed) and the file "winload.exe" is in the system32 folder. Does this mean i'll have to burn another DVD? I used Nero the first time and everything went fine until this point.
I also tried repairing using the Vista boot DVD and it said "repaired successfully", but it didn't actually work.

Just tried installing using Daemon Tools on a mounted drive, but i got the same error. :( Does this mean there's something wrong with the ISO file?

Has anyone got a copy of RC2 they could send me in the post? It would be much appreciated.

Btw i had my V: partition drive set as 'logical', whereas my Windows XP C: drive is set as 'primary'. Could this be the cause of the problem?

I've continued tweaking this week and it's just way too slow, so I'm deffo going back to XP.

Out of all the builds I have used 5744 for me is by far the best performing and most stable as of now.

I have it running as the only OS on the system in my sig and the only issue I had was with the Creative X-FI drivers that had to be re installed.

Well looks like I'll have to upgrade my CPU and GFX card then... :(

Pentium 805D
Gigabyte DS3 (Was Abit AW8D)
2GB RAM
1 x 36GB WD Raptor (may get another one to RAID 0)
1 x Samsung 160GB HDD
1 x WD 160GB USB drive
NEC DVD-RW
Linksys 54G PCI WMP card

So out of this lot I reckon gfx card and CPU to change. Gfx card first, but I don't play games so just need one to sort out the Vista performance. Another addition to the system will soon be a TV card, but again uncertain which one at the moment.

Got it working now, changed my V: drive to 'primary' (and had a powercut) and then the install worked perfectly! I think it looks fantastic, now i need to install all my drivers and stuff.

Is there any way to set my resolution to 1680x1050? The closest i can choose is 1600x1024  even after i installed Forceware. The text is also blurry.
