Vista RC2 Released

my x64 version failed overnight to d/l.

downloading the 32bit version now after reading some of the 64 bit probs.

why cant they get 64bit sorted ?! the hardware has been around for ... 4 years in consumer land how come they havent fixed it so that i can use my processor to do what it says in the brand name ? (athlon 64!!!) it has never even seen 64 bits in its life1

the 64bit O/S works fine, drivers are a bit hit and miss with vista because it's only a beta.

ok so what are you peeps using to burn cd/dvds in vista? i've got rid of my dual boot and am running vista as my only os.... :p

imgburn works well for images but i need something for audio/data and with a little bit more functionality than wmp/explorer. :)

edit:just 32bit....

i have vista rc1 5728 installed just now , games seem abit choppy , tell me do you guys install direct x 9c in vista or just use dx10 that comes with vista , as if i try bf 2142 it wont load and says cant find dx9 ***** i thought dx10 was backwards compatible? does rc2 fix this?
also if i download this will vista 5728 , will i manage to burn iso to disk , will nero work?
and has anyone got a bittorrent prog that works with vista and wont bugger up?

I installed Bit tornado yesterday on RC1 and it worked fine, couldn't get nero to install though so had to burn the ISO using Power ISO

Nero appears to work on the x86 version (I haven't tried personally),
But def doesn't work on x64 version

ImgBurn which is free is a lovely program to burn img files to dvd. Works on all versions of vista.

Utorrent works fine.

Azueres keeps bugging out and stopping the internet connection working for anything until reboot.

The Java beta was meant to sort this, but it doesn't.

is it worth it over rc1? how much rc`s are microsoft gona have! lol it must be ready for release soon , i think the only probs will be drivers from third partys etc , inc logitech!

Definatly worth it over RC1, they said they were not going to have a RC 2 so I can't see them having any more. RTM shouldn't be long anyway.

Hi there everyone

I'm liking this site has given me loads of advice already :)

Is anyone on here having a problem installing X-FI Platinuim on RC2 ???

I had it installed fine on RC1 but now can't get it to work on RC2 have tried all sorts of things, the drivers are installed but says 'No Audio Output Device Connected'

Please help

Thanks

Done a clean install of the 64 Bit version and had the exact same problems....Said the driver was the latest version and installed correct but still wouldn't work

My Internet connection sat on Limited Connectivity for about 15 mins too before finally kicking into life.....With no help from me

Now it just BSOD on boot up every time......So clean install of the 32 Bit version now :/

Finally managed to get Readyboost to work on my flash drive (Kingston Data Traveler 1) i had to copy a few files over then i retested it and it worked it seems as it copys some files over it fully examines your flash drive for speed etc now its working great! weird how it didnt work straight away

Having used RC1 32bit since launch with minimal troubles, I decided to give RC2 32Bit a whirl.
Most of my bit's worked except Window Media centre.
I use WinTV-2000 but can't get it to work properly. it worked perfectly with RC1, tried reloading driver but no luck.
I have now gone back to RC1, WMC now working ok.
I did Download RC2 again to be sure I did not get a bad copy.
Any ideas.

Just done a clean install RC2. Still have the same problems with Window Media centre.
After setting up TV channels. only a few work.
All the analog work. just digital have problems.
As I said, WMC with RC1 work OK.
Is it only me?.

I haven't had any problems with utorent on 5728 or rc2. Still waiting for the next peerguardian beta, though. They say its going to be soon, but wont say when.

Has anyone noticed any problems with reboot and shutdown?

When I try to reboot or shutdown my machine the screen goes black and the computer hangs.

I have googled but have not been able to find a solution.

I have just installed RC2 and Aero does not seem to be working, it was in RC1. I have a Radeon 9700 Pro, should I install the RC1 ATI drivers ir wait for RC2 drivers?

Thanks,

TrUz
