Vista RC2 Released

Another thing for those of you with Logitech devices. Mouse/Keyboard software works fine but for webcams, download the latest quickcam software, right click it and set compatibility mode to XP SP2, the software will then install correctly and setup your webcams as normal.

apologies for the stupid questions, but:

I never had the RC1, still on XP here, can I just download that and whack it on? Can I keep my xp on as well or will I have to go over it? If so, will that get rid of all my stuff in my Documents folders etc? Does anyone have a link to a key?

Prob got loads more stupid obvious questions but cant think of any right now.

Yeah...I tried the MS ones as well as the nvidia rc1 drivers.

I just did the straight upgrade without reformatting...and i don't see the aero option anywhere

I done a fresh install and I do not have Aero, I have not tried installing the ATI drivers as there are no RC2 drivers yet.

Got most things working now, just one last thing and thats Daemon tools.
Had a look on the Daemon website and apparently the new version 4.* whatever works in vista.

I've done an upgrade from xp which when installing told me that Daemon tools wasn't compatible so I uninstalled it and downloaded the new version, now it gets as far as the SCSI screen about SPTD then when I click ok the installer closes thats as far as it's getting.

Anyone else had any look or know a working alternative ??

Cheers

I'm using poweriso and it works fine with rc2.

but...as for this aero problem....does anyone have aero working with RC2?

My install keeps losing network connection, and then I can't seem to restart at all so I have to hard restart the machine.

Any ideas?!

Vista rarely even finds my connection.....Starts off giving me Limited Connectivity...Finally finds an "Unidentified Network" but still no Internet connection still but then sometimes its fine :(

I don't know how to get a grab of the Switch Between Windows jobbie but it does work. Standard RC2 install with ATi drivers..

As for the network connection, mine occasionally doesn't connect at start up.. have to leave it a minute or so before it kicks in.

well I was all set to install RC2, after reading all the issues i think im just going to hang fire and wait for the pucka release.

Shame it does look nice

Aero is working for me, not even installed the ATI drivers.

In fact it's all working very nicely.

ok I got Aero to work. The nvidia RC1 drivers were to blame. The microsoft ones work fine with aero. Except now HL2 and CSS artifact :(

Nvidia needs to come out with some new drivers.

I am using the RC1 drivers with no probs. Have you tried a fresh uninstall/install of you your drivers, using Driver Cleaner?

Vista working great for me (Nvidia + onboard sound.) Only reason I am in XP anymore is to use office and check mail. :) (+ the odd game.)
