decided rather than leaving it ill make a system restore point, then try installing it. if it goes bad i can just use the system restore point to go back to no SP?
sp1 didnt show, or dl to me? how can i get it now? and is there any older updates i might need to uninstall?
edit - just tried some registry edit and it did nothing =\
edit2 - some more registry editing and a couple of manually downloaded updates = it shows up now
edit3- still says beta =\ idk if to install it or not.
edit4 - decided not to install for now.
don't worry.. its rtm version = "6.0.6001.18000" which means final version..the result:
![]()
also it reset the days till activation to 30, from 14?
microsoft will bring the downloadable sp1 exe files maybe next mouth..When it is finally released, are they likely to release a package update download where as one file which i can just install after a reinstall of the operating system. (I remember hearing that you won't be able to integrate it into a new CD...correct?)
Also - what is SP1 supposed to fix (mainly) and does it bring the performance level on par with XP?

but some of the things in that list isn't in the rtm/final version... e.g "Adds support for creating a single DVD media that boots on PCs with either BIOS or EFI. " thats been removedhttp://www.istartedsomething.com/20071208/vista-sp1-changelog/
Have a look at the link ..a list of things changed/updated.
