A while back I remember reading that VM would be increasing all 20mb customers to 30mb.

Did this rollout ever happen or is it still planned?

Just wondering as the lack of a BB line is starting to get annoying and I dont know if I can wait another month for the rumoured sky friends n family offer

Oh the superhub. So this is kinda a way of gradually getting all their customers on the new modem, so if they increase the speed later, it will be ready for it?

Probably. I'd much rather keep my Ambit256 but I guess they won't allow it :( Is there any way of putting the 'superhub' in to Modem-Only mode yet?

so anyone on 20mb can upgrade to 30mb but are forced to buy the superhub (sorry, can't load VM's webpage at work)?

I have one of the small blue modems currently and use my own wireless router so don't really want to use the superhub

yeah bit rubbish but no choice. I even said I already have the hub but that made no difference :(

Hmm,

So free upgrade but you gotta pay for the modem.
I suppose it makes people ready for the further increases and of course will mean those that had modems that were struggling with speeds like the older ones get a better modem and also docsis 3 ready afaik.

Has anyone confirmed it includes the 3Mb up?
might also be worth checking if doing this upgrade also ties you into a new contract.

Superhub
How much does it cost?
New and existing customers:
Free when you add or upgrade to 30Mb broadband,
50Mb broadband or 100Mb broadband
£75 when taken with 10Mb broadband

For those that like arguing with VM CS ;)

So a new customer gets 30mb with free installation and the new CHEAPER monthly price and us existing customers have to pay £30 quid to upgrade? I've already got a super hub. I'll be ringing them later to see if I can get a free upgrade and also check out this new cheaper monthly price applies to us existing customers.

I've been on the phone to them earlier. spoke to 2 women in upgrades who couldn't tell me why I would have to pay £30 for an activation fee. The superhub is actually free according to one of the tech guys, but all I got out of the upgrades women is that you pay for the activation fee. When quizzed as to why I haven't paid this activation fee for another upgrades I've had they couldn't say.

I also spoke to one of the technical guys and he said it should be a free upgrade and didn't know why I was being told I should pay a £30 activation fee. He also said that you don't need to use the superhub providing your current modem supports the faster speed.

They did mention that my monthly bill will reduce by a quid or so as snow-munki said, which is better than a kick in the teeth.

Got a letter through this morning. Personally I'd rather just have a modem as I have a decent router. Guess I'll phone them up.

cokecan72 what modem do you have? I have a Scientific Atlanta EPC2100R2 back from 2007.

I have one of the small blue ones (don't know what model it is off hand as not at home, ill update with the model later) but it was upgraded about 9 months ago before I went onto 20meg from 10.
