Is it worth upgrading to the higher resolution screen? bearing in mind its being powered by an 8600. I'm sure I'd find the 1280*800 screen too low resolution. The screen is only 15.4 inches wide so would the 1440*900 screen be the best option? As I'm sure that even on the desktop I'd find icons too small at 1680*1050. I'm just trying to sort myself a laptop at the moment and finding it very hard to make a decision, this laptop seems to offer the best value for money though. Thanks in advance guys! :)

This is the laptop im going to get next, for sure I think the 1280x800 is a little too small, so Im thinking of getting one with 1440x900. It would be definatly a must. Smaller would just feel too cramped.

they come within 2 weeks of ordering. If you go direct you can barter the price down too, may take a few phonecalls, some of the sales people are less willing

It all depends on what you're used to I suppose - but 1280x800 on this laptop's 15 inch screen doesn't remotely feel too low res to me! I think if things were smaller it would be harder to use, especially from a distance. I like it just the way it is! Better performance on games too, of course :-)

mine looks blurry and gash at 1280, maybes im just picky, 1440 looks so hot !

1280x800 looks blurry on a 1440x900 screen?

strewth, best return it ;)

my friends macbook pro is 1440x900 and 15.4 ws. perfect size and res if you ask me.

just like 1280x800 is perfect at 13 inch (mabook) size

The laptop would be my main computer, so the larger the better. Any larger than 1440x900 and the text would be too small on a 15.4" screen.

was a reply to the guy above me saying his looked fine.. :) obv its not going to look spot on when it aint native res but it looks pretty damn gash so maybes im just more picky than him!

OP if its your main computer stick to 1440, if you needed a higher res than that in future you could just buy a monitor, or plug it into your tv(do it anyway!!)
