It seems this went very smoothly with no hiccups, as promised in the OP next week we will try a more public forum deal with a voucher code, but be warned if the code leaks out it will be the last public deal.
if it was posted in the general forum it'd hit bots before real people would have a chance.
FWIW when @Gibbo does post this up in the general forum, this is exactly what will happen. I suspect he full well knows that, maybe Cloudfire will help, who knows. I also suspect when he posts it in open forum, there will be very few cards on offer for this very reason.
I'm sure he is, but as his reply above suggests, another closed, but more accessible, forum area could work well. Enough to stop bots from easily accessing, but still far more accessible to real customers.

Is this something you would consider doing with future hardware launches, if it still looks like demand massively outstrips demand? It seems this went very smoothly with no hiccups, as promised in the OP next week we will try a more public forum deal with a voucher code, but be warned if the code leaks out it will be the last public on.
Seems a bit premature to ditch the MM idea already for the open forum, its only been done twice and not on a higher end card yet either, which many might be holding out for.
Sorry to the people who don't qualify but my view is keep it private for longer.
This is not an end to private deals, but we’re trying to please all.

On the other hand, it could damage your reputation as a retailer if it seems like it’s becoming some kind of members only club.
Tricky one.
This. Someone can just create a new account and post the code where ever they like.public deal is doa.
Although at least with the voucher scheme, you can take part in major launches without fear of being totally swamped with unfulfillable backorders.Well we have not participated in any major launches for a while due to insane demand levels and we’ve not marketed a GPU at all this year.
Of course we have to play it careful as our website is the main bread and butter, no offence to our community but it’s now a small part of our business but it’s something we have not forgotten and never will no matter how small in grand scheme of things it might become.
if your still selling out of these cards within 30 minutes i would say keep doing the same and then start lowering the requirements
