Because a grand on a pain job could be a grand spent on the engine?

So why buy those wheels? Could have some cheaper ones and spent a few hundred on getting it to look respectable..

People criticize the enzo for being "ugly" yet they say these old bangers with all rust and no paint look good.
I dont get that at all :o

Damn, Penski's turning me on again..

Sideways in a rat look volvo with the turbo whistling. Just think of it like that.

Is that that Linde Bus on the right?

This is how the Ovlov used to look:

But it had a bit of an off-track excursion:

So full-on rebuild time...

So during the rebuild, a few things were added:

Garrett GT2871R turbo, dual ball bearing with the upgraded 4" compressor inlet:

A rather hefty rollcage:

With 1 month before the next event, he concentrated on the mechanicals rather than the bodywork:

I get it, I definately get it :)

I'm currently looking for a SORN E30 BMW 325i to have a play with, they go for far too little and are far too much fun :)

Other than that, it's a Sierra XR4x4.

There's a video of a similar volvo in sweden which can be seen here http://videos.streetfire.net/hottestvideos/3/351BFB5C-96F3-43C2-9E18-45E6E0E6760C.htm
That's more of a sleeper than a rat car though.

I don't know what it is that attracts me to these cars, I used to be the same as all of the other 'trolls' in this thread - "crappy looking car...bah humbug etc", but after attending a drift event and seeing a 'sleeper' absolutely pan the 'drift team' cars, such as the 200SX's etc - I was hooked :D

Keep us updated on that kadett too, looks interesting :D

Whilst I'd hardly get excited about that, I get that. Thats a nice, well kept example of a 200. Not my thing, but I can see the point. Its good.

Quite why you think the fact he's utterly monged it is an improvement, however, is beyond me.

I dont think that all people who criticize the Enzo are fan's of VW buses. Im a huge fan of VW buses and I dont mind the Enzo's styling.

These buses arn't quite old bangers either, you should check out a rat buses engine bay if you get a chance to see one. It is easy to get confused though, as the line between rat-look and rotten beyond repair get's blurred. People try to pass off a wreck as a 'rat-look', when it isn't. All true rat-look buses are stucturely sound and often have some surface rust. a lot of rat-look dont have rust at all though! The paint is normally totally stock (so very faded) and dents are left in. Most rat-look buses are also ex-commercial.

If you don't get it then don't worry! Horses for courses... :)

I have the feeling that most of the people who have posted this thread would have a total synapse shutdown if they visited www.hoodride.com

Define 'substance'...

I could say that the only people who didn't 'get' my beard were waxed-chest metrosexuals with a fear of masculinity...
